Dear Varun, It was good to see you associated with Marriott after your fabulous tenure with Hyatt Hotels. I am writing to formally bring to your attention one of the most disappointing and unprofessional experiences I have had at Coorg Marriott. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely pathetic and far below Marriott’s global service standards. To begin with, the reservation process itself was alarming. Your reservation team insisted on a 100% advance payment before confirming the booking. This was the first time I encountered such a demand from Marriott, and I was genuinely shocked. However, assuming this might be a property-specific process, I proceeded with the payment and immediately shared the payment confirmation with your team. Post confirmation, I called your hotel’s landline and clearly informed the team that the guest was very important to me. I specifically requested: That no bill be presented to the guest at checkout That the final invoice be shared with me directly via email Clarification on the amenities to be placed for the guest To my surprise, the representative was not even aware of what gesture or welcome amenities are offered to important guests. The issues did not end there: At check-in, the room was not presentable and no amenities were placed On the second day, room cleaning was not done until very late On the day of checkout, the guest was held at the reception for 20–25 minutes and was informed that no payment had been received This was extremely embarrassing, especially since the full payment had already been made in advance. One of your team members, who introduced himself as the Reservation Manager (Lakshy), was involved throughout this process. When I contacted him during the checkout issue, he asked me to resend the payment proof so he could “check with the team,” which clearly indicates a serious breakdown in internal systems and communication. I fail to understand how multiple lapses could occur for a single reservation, especially when it involved an important guest and full advance payment. This reflects a complete lack of coordination, training, and accountability within the reservation and front office teams. I will be escalating this matter to Marriott corporate leadership, and I expect a clear explanation of: Why these failures occurred What corrective actions will be taken How Marriott plans to compensate for the inconvenience and embarrassment caused I look forward to your prompt response and a satisfactory resolution. Coorg Marriott Resort & Spa: We are a family with two children, ages 12 and 8, who stayed at this resort for 4 nights. We received a warm welcome, smooth check-in, and a quick tour of the resort. Room/Resort: Our luxury cottage was very spacious and clean, with a balcony offering a fantastic view of the coffee plantations. The resort itself is like a quite upscale neighborhood in the middle of the greenery of the Madikeri hills. The resort itself was well-maintained and well-lit at night, with 24/7 buggy service from the lobby to your cottage. Restaurants/Food: The hotel has two restaurants- Madikeri Kitchen and Grills by the Valley. Madikeri Kitchen is an all-day diner with breakfast and dinner buffet, and lunch à la carte. The food at Madikeri Kitchen was flavorful but straightforward and tasty. The menu was subtly changed every day to provide variety and appeal. They also have live counters for breakfast and dinner. The staff were both attentive and knowledgeable. The restaurant itself has an open kitchen and outdoor seating with spectacular views of the forest. We want to give extra credit to restaurant staff, Atanu and Swapna. On the other hand, Grills by the Valley is open only for lunch, with à la carte options specializing in South Indian fusion, and offers pizza. The South Indian fusion was creative yet tasty. The view was even more stunning than Madikeri Kitchen. Facilities/Amenities/Organized Activities: The hotel offers an arcade, an infinity pool, a gym, and table games. We stayed for 4 nights. On Day 1, we went on a trek arranged by the hotel, where we saw magnificent views of the valleys, local plants, and trees, and, best of all, fresh air! On Day 2, we went for a coffee plantation tour for over an hour on the hotel’s property. It was fun and informative. Luckily, for both the plantation walk and the trek, we had Abilash as our guide; he was super knowledgeable about the local terrain and plants, fun to be around, and had excellent communication skills. He had a significant impact on our outdoor activities arranged through the hotel. On Day 3, we went for an early-morning birdwatching. It was an okay experience, and we enjoyed the morning walk. Overall, the hotel had enough amenities and organized activities to keep our family entertained and relaxed throughout the trip. Overall, it is one of the best Marriott resorts experiences we have been to in India. In the future, it would be a pleasure to come again.

Our stay at Marriott Coorg felt like stepping into a world of calm, elegance, and quiet beauty. Nestled within a lush coffee plantation, the resort offers a rare sense of peace — made even more magical by the cool December air and misty mornings. What truly touched us was the warmth of the people. From the gracious team at the front desk to the wonderful F&B staff, each member of the F&B team, every interaction felt genuine and thoughtful. A special mention to Mr. Suman Kumar and Mr. Varun Mohan, Umer, Karan, whose warmth and leadership reflect the true soul of this beautiful property. Over the six days, this place became more than a stay — it became a feeling. One I’d love to return to with the people I love. A perfect blend of luxury, nature, and heartfelt hospitality. Highly recommended for those seeking a refined escape.
