Our first time In Crete without our teenagers . What a wonderful experience . The hotel was so clean tidy and quirky .. being smaller than some hotels it felt so comfortable we relaxed instantly . The staff were all so friendly and really made our stay so comfortable . So much so that after a tough year we have been drawn back to experience more of the Cretian hospitality and know it will be the perfect place to relax .

Absolutely lovely hotel although I wouldn’t describe Gouves as a pretty postcard setting. Not a great deal going on although they are a few bars, restaurants and souvenir shops about. Local beeches not the most scenic but again fine for a day out. Hotel staff so friendly and helpful, nothing was a bother. Hotel room lovely and comfortable although I would certainly suggest you take your own hairdryer but they will lend you a handheld one at no extra cost. Pool area big enough for the size of hotel and no issues with sun beds. Food & drinks ordered around pool area using a push bell system and very good. Breakfast & evening meal were fine although sometimes a little slow at topping the serving bowls up. A La Carte restaurant which we got included with us being half board was beautiful and well worth the visit. All in all really enjoyed our week and would definitely go back if it was in a different location.

A lovely quiet hotel that has a nice chill vibe. I did not enjoy checking in on my mobile phone with passport details etc however the lovely receptionist did this for me. We were also greeted with refreshments. We booked a Seaview room junior suite with balcony however the Seaview balcony is furnished with one chair and is tiny however we had a huge balcony at the front overlooking the pool which we loved especially in the evenings and first thing in the morning. Sunloungers were cushioned. However, many were saved by 7.45 am however loungers on top of the water at the pool were always free and by the beach restsurant you have extra 8 loungers which gives you the view of the sea. Buzzers are given out round the pool so you can order drinks and food or you can walk to the bar with stunning views and have food or drinks great place to see the sunset 🌇 Breakfast was very good and evening meals did not disappoint. We walked out to the small town with a harbour and bars and also when you see the sign central in blue follow the sign it's full of bars restaurants and a great vibe at night. We would stay here again we felt relaxed our room was 214 and it was great. The room is quiet and comfy.

On arrival offered welcome drink and did self check in online. Nice receptionist Nikas. Accompanied to our sea view double room. Nothing like the photo on Jet 2 website. It was small dark and had a tiny balcony. Went back to reception to ask if any larger brighter rooms available. After some work by Nikas we were shown to a suite at an extra cost of €10 per night which we paid. Separate bedroom, lounge and bathroom, bigger balcony. Rusty AC unit. Bathroom was small and dark but shower was powerful and hot. We overlooked a children’s play area and staff walkway but it was okay. Pool area lovely although the reserving of sunbeds was an issue with towels on before breakfast. Selfish people!!! Despite the hotel policy not to reserve. This wasn’t actively challenged by any staff members. We went to the nearby beach which was lovely. There is a Gym workstation but it is old and obviously little used, There is a spa hut which seemed popular for massages. Breakfast and Evening Meals were fantastic and the standout for this hotel along with the lovely staff. On balance there are some positives and the negatives are fixable. We would however, return as Gouves is a lovely location for relaxation,

Had a lovely 2 weeks at this hotel. A nice short transfer from the airport. Modestly sized hotel with nice pool and eating areas. I think all rooms (apart from junior suites) are doubles or double plus. Both seem to have same amenities but the double plus is much more spacious. Nice bathroom and decent showers but bathroom could do with some shelving as no storage space apart from a little space next to the sink. Rooms cleaned daily. No deposit required for pool towels and can be changed every few days. Kettle and pod coffee machine. Fridge and key operated safety deposit box. Food choices and quality are absolutely fantastic in the main restaurant. Really impressed. Lunch time snacks also very good. A la carte option also worth trying. We were staying 2 weeks so were allowed 2 free visits to the a la carte. Only issue with both restaurants are the stray cats that are allowed to roam in while you are eating. Staff do sometimes try to shoo them away but usually unsuccessfully and often there are half a dozen strolling around looking for food while you are eating. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. They are a credit to the hotel. There is a spa for massages and other treatments and an outdoor gym area but I tried neither of these facilities. The hotel itself is a bit in the middle of nowhere. There is a gift shop next door and then a nice supermarket and then a bar (this is Anfield). Main shopping area bit of a walk away (maybe 2k?). The hotel is situated perfectly to see some stunning sunsets though. Bear in mind there is a ‘climate tax’ of 10 euros per night per person to pay also and it can only be paid in cash !

We have just stayed for a week and thought it was so peaceful and quiet. We thought that it was in a good location and the pool was good and used it quite a bit. Everybody is helpful throughout the hotel. It’s just so calming and the weather was good. The rooms were good as well nice and quiet.

What a lovely quaint hotel for adults only. We stayed 7 nights at the Enorme Maya Beach hotel and we cannot fault one thing about the stay. The staff (Kaleda & Nikos in reception, Maria & Rena and the breakfast & dinner restaurant to all the staff who served us our food & drinks throughout the day, to name a few, Andreas, Maria, Elizabeth, Claire and Michael) were absolutely consummate professionals. They tended to our every need, asked regularly of everything was fine and what more they could do for us. So attentive and gracious. Lovely people and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. The food and drinks from the breakfast, lunch to the themed dinners at night were fantastic. Credit to the kitchen chefs as we loved it all. Michael the cocktail extraordinaire with his amazing drink making skills and very reasonably priced cocktails made the evenings very enjoyable. Thank you to all the team at the hotel. We have lovely and very fond memories of our stay. We wish you all well & look forward to staying with you when we are next in Gouves. Take care.

Having read all the reviews for this hotel we decided that the Maya beach was the place for us to stay on our trip to Crete. Check in is done online so on arrival we had to spend 10 minutes sitting in reception with an ipad checking ourselves in. So to our room, we had booked a double room with balcony or terrace, in our case it was a terrace, unfortunately we happened to have the worst view possible, a worn out patch of grass with 3 manhole covers, a staff access path and a 6 foot wooden fence panel behind which was a children's play area. The "terrace" was a very small wooden veranda on which we could sit but being North facing and enclosed we would get no sun and of course there were the staff constantly walking by to their stores. There were some bean bag type sun loungers but they were filthy dirty so no way was we going to sit on them. The room itself was okay, spacious with a large comfortable bed and all the usual facilities you would expect in such a hotel but it was quite dark, certainly not the nice bright room shown in the pictures. The bathroom was also quite spacious but lacked any storage space so we had to keep our washbags in the living area as there was just nowhere to put them. Again there was only one small light above the basin so the room was quite dark and dingy. (the cleaning lady got the maintenance man to change the bulbs which helped a bit) The space around the pool area was quite limited so all the sunbeds were lined up next to each other with no space whatsoever between them (unlike the photo which shows a few beds with plenty of space) On our first morning we were fortunate to get the last two beds but not so the following day and headed off to the beach, get down early if you want a bed!! Location wise the hotel is great, centrally located there are bars and restaurants just a short walk away in either direction, there is a decent small beach just 100m East or a bigger one 200m to the West, the shopping centre is about a 10-15 minute walk away. The hotels best quality is it's staff all of whom were brilliant, friendly, helpful and attentive, food was also good, plenty of choice and variety. To summarize I would NOT rate this hotel as 4 star, a 3 star rating would be more appropriate in my opinion based on the standard of the rooms and the lack of maintenance in the garden/grass areas but otherwise an enjoyable stay.
