We could not fault our stay at The Old Rectory. We were a multi-generational family group and found this well appointed house with its delightful and peaceful gardens ideal for our needs. The younger ones played tennis on the tennis court and a game of croquet on the extensive lawns, while we older ones relaxed on the terrace. We all enjoyed visiting the pigs and chickens and can recommend a gentle walk across the fields to the Six Bells pub in the next village. The owners were very helpful, even offering to unpack delivered shopping if it arrived before we did and leaving a welcoming pack of goodies. All in all, a fabulous place.

Our Trip to Suffolk
We had a very pleasant stay with Maggie and Paddy at The Old Rectory. The accommodation was excellent as was the food at breakfast and dinner. A fine place to drive from to the outlying towns and villages.

We had a absolutely wonderful time staying at The Old Rectory for our daughters wedding, which was held nearby. There were 10 of us staying plus a toddler and 4 week old baby! The setting was glorous for a summer celebration with plenty of space for us all. There was a huge kitchen/diner (with Aga for cooking) and a stunning garden for everyone to gather for pre-wedding drinks on a beautiful patio overlooking the garden and surrounding fields. The photographer on the morning of the wedding couldn't get over how stunning the setting was! Maggie and Paddy could not have been more helpful, and even helped me when entertaining! We will return, maybe staying in the smaller cottage next door or even the Shephers hut at the bottom of the field if it's just the two of us next time.

Very warm welcome from the hosts. Beautiful landscape. Nearest village “Lavenham”, a medieval village with beautiful old houses. Very beautiful big room with super beds. Fantastic homemade full English breakfast! Very clean and cosy house. Quiet surroundings. Lovely place!

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Maggie’s house. We rented the whole property for our family trip to celebrate my mother's birthday. We instantly felt at home there and Maggie was an excellent host - even receiving and packing away our online shopping which arrived before we did. The seclusion of the property with the expanse of land surrounding it makes it one of the most unique Airbnbs I have stayed at. The house is beautifully furnished with several bathrooms and very comfy beds. It was perfect for our family of eight adults and three young children as there was plenty of room for everyone, a huge lawn for the children to play on and a tennis court. It is close by to several good pubs and to Lavenham. I whole heartedly recommend Maggie’s home and we look forward to returning for our next family trip.

This beautiful house was the perfect backdrop to our Coronation celebrations with friends, children and dogs. The house and grounds were beautifully kept and the children loved exploring, jumping on the trampoline and playing tennis. Maggie was a super host and available to answer any questions by email or text quickly. Nearby Lavenham was a joy to explore and the walk to the Six Bells in Preston was just right for little (and tired!) legs.

A charming looking house in a very rural part of Suffolk, not far from Lavenham. Pretty garden, and in the grounds pigs, sheep and hens. Pros Quiet and peaceful, with large garden and rural views Locally grown produce Home made marmalade and granola Paddy carried my luggage upstairs and was very personable and friendly You can organise to have dinner at the old rectory Fluffy bath towels Cons Due to the rural location the WiFi connection can be limited, it was not possible to connect upstairs If staying on the second floor the stairs are steep and narrow. Quite tricky to navigate. You need a car to get to local pubs etc. Roads are quite narrow Lack of a night light on second floor The booking policy, if you book with *********** and cancel at a late stage there is no charge. However if you book direct and have to change arrangement at a later stage, this has significant financial implications. Clearly stated in terms and conditions. A expensive learning lesson to use *********** or similar.
