Where to start! First off, the staff (Dan) when we first arrived were great- friendly and helpful and the bar area was fine. We were in the main building which is far more tired than the newer rooms near the function room. The family room (a double and a single bed) we were in was pretty crowded. Luckily the weather was rainy but warm, though the heating came on in the middle of the night so wasn't cold. The sofa was old and under the covering blanket falling apart. Not very comfy but better than the beds! The mattress for the single bed was awful, the springs through the cover were painful. We borrowed another duvet for my child to sleep on but still grim. The double bed wasn't much better tbh. Duvets were paper thin, thank goodness for the heating, pillows were no better. The ensuite was tiny but functional - just don't look at the mould in the shower. It wasn't all bad - plenty of hot water, tv reception good and tea and coffee facilities. The following morning the electrics downstairs in the dining area had short circuited due to a leak from the upstairs shower so the poor lady who cooked and served breakfast had to work very hard. Luckily we weren't in a rush but even when the owner eventually turned up, he didn't even come over and apologise for the delay. Overall, as it was the only place to stay it did the job but I wouldn't rush to stay there again. It needs a good refurb, fresh soft furnishings, new mattresses and sofa but looking at previous reviews saying the same thing, they are the only accommodation in the area so know they can change a lot in a niche market.
