After a lovely walk exploring the White Horse and Kilburn, we popped into the Forresters Arms for lunch. As soon as you enter the place , you can see that it’s special - lovely atmosphere throughout and fabulous decor. We had Salt and Pepper Squid and a Fish Finger Butty, followed by Black Forest Dessert and coffee. The food and the presentation were divine. We were looked after by the lovely Marianne and nothing was too much trouble ! We felt like we were visiting friends rather than just dining in a pub. I would highly recommend this place, it was our first time there but it won’t be the last!

Called in on off chance for lunch, after visiting the Mouseman, beautiful surroundings and lovely atmosphere. Made to feel very welcome, food was delicious and beautifully presented. Can’t recommend enough, told family and friends and will definitely be heading back. Thank you 😊

I brought my family for a Mother's Day lunch on Sunday 10th March, we were booked in for 12.00pm It stated off with the table been set for 6 and not 8, I'd also had a telephone confirmation few days before then a text message also to confirm this as well. We then all placed our orders, my son ordered the pie it was a casserole with a pastry lid with mashed potato and vegetables only to be told after that there was no mashed potato ready yet. I would of thought that the first sitting at 12.00 that this would of been ready? 5 of us had the roast dinners all the carrots on our plates were burnt on one side and raw! The roast potatoes were hard and cold and the vegetables brought out were undercooked cold, and no serving spoons, my plate was red hot, however the food on it was not! The lamb was not great either. My 18 month old granddaughter's vegetables were also undercooked and Emily couldn't feed her them for fearing she would choke. However the burger and salmon were good. I could accept this if you were busy or it was later in the day, but we were the first table to arrive and there were a lot of waiting staff, but none of them seemed to know what was going on. We have had many meals and stayed over and not had any problems before, hence wanting to bring my family here, but unfortunately we won't be coming again as it was a real disappointment. We were asked if everything was okay while she was still walking past our table, not stopping to check if we were okay. I'm not even sure if we had complained on the day that all the roast dinners would of been back in time for us to all eat together. We also shouldn't have to make a complaint when coming out for a Sunday lunch, surely the food should be checked that they are cooked correctly before going out to the diners? The bill also came to over £300.00 this was alot of money for undercooked food.

We as a couple had a lovely two night's stay here.We also took our dog- and were made very welcome, by the friendly owners and their staff. The rooms are spacious, well equipped, and have comfortable beds. There is such good choice of delicious breakfast- and we ate there both evenings too.A great menu, with plenty of choice. We would definitely stay here again- it is a wonderful place in a beautiful village- but not far from other areas to visit nearby.

I've just returned after a 2 night stay and am very disappointed. First of all it's a beautiful location. The room we stayed was very overpriced. It was dark and near the back of the kitchen so quite noisy. My first night was spoilt by the upstairs room leaving their TV on All through the night. All I got from a staff member was well there're different people occupying that room tonight. The food was quite nice but overpriced. The first breakfast was really good and plenty of it But next day I opted for what was supposed to be a 3 egg omelette with cheese onion tomato and ham It was v small and leathery had next to no filling. I spotted a very small slither of wafer thin ham n maybe a few bits of grated cheese No onion or tomato. I plucked up courage to say something and all the lady did was take it away. Once she came back a few mins later asked if I wanted anythig else. I wish I had but didn't like to be a bother You shouldn't be made to feel like that. I won't be returning. Such a shame as Kilburn is a beautiful place.

What a lovely place for a few drinks, staff were a delight as were the drinks! We didn’t eat but the menu and specials looked amazing and we even had a chat with the friendly chef. The village is great and this pub is just an added bonus for the area.

We first stayed at The Forresters Arms in 1988. In the intervening 34 years, we have stayed there about ten times. Sometimes you should never go back. Our welcome on arrival was cool. The lady on Reception (possibly the same one as mentioned in the Londoner016 review of February 2022) did not even look up from her screen as she asked “Checking in?” We were allotted Room 3 (we had booked a Classic Double room). We were also given a form for the following day’s breakfast; breakfast is served from 08:00 to 10:00 but you have to specify a time - we were told in no uncertain terms to be down on time as breakfast would be cooked at the time specified and would get cold. Payment for the full stay was taken and we were also told that nothing could be charged to the room, any bar/dining services had to be paid for at the time of consumption (different from our previous stays, but house policy so fair enough). Room 3 overlooks the road through the village and The Mouseman Museum opposite. It is large but slightly empty and could possibly benefit from another piece of furniture (a chest of drawers perhaps?). We settled in to relax (after a long journey) before dinner that evening. We were aware of the fan noise from the kitchen which has always been a feature of The Forresters (see many other historical reviews). At 16:15 our relaxation was rudely interrupted by the sudden loud thumping of what can only be described as ‘rave’ music - it went on continuously, without stopping. At 17:00 we went downstairs to enquire/complain; no staff were about. However, the thumping music could not be heard downstairs. We investigated and found that Room 3 is directly above the kitchen, where the music was coming from; the kitchen fans are so loud that the chef/cooks turn their music up so they can hear it above the fan noise! The ‘rave’ music continued unabated. We went down to dinner at 18:30 and were greeted by Duncan, who we assume is the bar/restaurant manager. We told him about our problem with the ‘rave’ music and he was most apologetic, telling us we would not hear it again. When we returned to our room later that evening, the music was lower but was still completely audible. It stopped at 22:15 (so it lasted 6 hours from 16:15 to 22:15). Then about 5 minutes later, lighter music started up and went on until 22:45. The following day we went down to breakfast at the chosen time of 08:30. The problem here is that the Ladies toilets are off the dining area; they are cleaned at this time and the door is propped open and the smell of bleach emanates - when guests are trying to have their breakfast! That afternoon, the thumping music started up again at 16:15 when the kitchen staff arrived. Again it did not stop until 22:15 when, after the few minutes of silence, the lighter music started up (a voice was heard distinctly saying “Alexa, play ‘Tell Me Why’”!). At 06:45 the following morning we saw, from the window of Room 3, the chef and his assistant arriving. 5 min

This place is lovely. At the bottom of the white horse. And right next door to the mouse man’s work shop. We had a lovely meal homemade pizza really good. And made to choice. I don’t like tomato bases can’t eat them so they made me a garlic based one. The staff really nice and friendly and helpful. Bedroom lovely nicely decorated with comfy bed and big tv just what I like.
