This was our first night’s stay after flying into Dublin. We rented a car and drove to Kilkenny straight away. Butler House is perfectly situated to take in the sights of historic Kilkenny. The Castle is just through the gate. It was nice to have the elevator to heft our luggage up two floors. Breakfast was excellent! The garden was gorgeous for an early morning walk. Beautiful historic building!

We absolute loved Butler House , the decor stunning, staff are very welcoming and our rooms were huge and extremely comfy. The Inn is at the top end of the Main Street and walking distance to everything. Bonus was the garden at the back which also leads to Kilkenny Castle

A beautiful place! Ask for a room facing the garden. We were in room 76. So nice! A bit cool for my older American sensibilities but warmer in the night and the bathroom was warm when I took my shower. A caution for those who have difficulty with high steps: the tub walls are at least knee high or a bit higher. There is a grab bar in the shower but it’s a reach. Shower is very nice. Breakfast was delicious and the room lovely. Quiet throughout the property. Recommend highly.

The location was superb for this town. Very near the castle in close to all restaurants. The hotel was very clean. The room's very spacious and quaint. All 4 rooms had showers of adequate size and bathtubs that we're quite huge. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially Freda in the morning.

We spent a lovely afternoon in the garden and enjoyed a family lunch and drinks but were disappointed at the end. Tara our server was amazing and we would like to thank her for her efficiency and courtesy. Food and ambiance were excellent. As we finished our meal we asked another girl for dessert menu at 15:45 as service was finished at 16:00. We were told the kitchen was closed and only dessert option was brownies. Such a disappointment after a lovely afternoon ad we were trying to celebrate a family birthday.

Lovely stay at the Butler House, the charming Dower House of Kilkenny Castle built in 1786. We stayed in the Langton Room which had a really nice view of the castle. Wonderful breakfast served every morning. Also enjoyed the Cream Tea experience in the afternoon seated outdoors where you can enjoy their lovely grounds. Great location - across from Kilkenny Castle and short stroll to local shops and restaurants. Pleasant staff, comfy beds, wonderful stay.

We arrived to find our room was in the basement where you couldn't see out of the windows. The room was very big and spacious. The tv was on the wall but we had to get reception to come and sort out the volume as it wouldn't come on. Also when in bed one of the posts of the bed blocked the view. We were not offered tea/coffee and sweet treat on arrival either. Breakfast on the first morning 11th July the porridge was not cooked enough so left most of it. The full Irish was nice. When we came to use the coffee machine the water compartment was extremely dirty with a slime residue, we took to reception and asked for it to be cleaned. Not what you expect. The towels in our Review Not what you expect. The towels in our bathroom were very shabby with them fraying as was the bath mat. Our last breakfast was not as expected we asked for just white toast but were given a stand with pastries and mixed toast. The scrambled eggs did not resemble eggs and tasted very bland. Unfortunately we will not return to this hotel in the future

We had a lovely stay in Butler House. Our room was wonderful with beautiful views over the garden. Great location and has parking facilities too. The hotel is kept in pristine condition throughout and last but by no means least the staff are just wonderful. They were all so friendly, helpful and professional. Would definitely choose to stay here again.
