Faulty Towers 2 We arrived early and tried to book in and was told 3pm, that is fine 3pm it is, at 2.30pm we were allowed to our room (other party’s also) We fetched our suitcases from the shed outside, walked passed the stored caravans, outside is a mess and it’s the first thing you see We unpacked and ran a bath , no hot water, on asking the manager he said it was because everyone had checked in at the same time (so what). We did try to check in earlier (miraculously all the rooms were ready at the same time ) The Manager offered the camp site showers which we refused 😀 Breakfast was okay, no yoghurt as they had not had a delivery, orders for breakfast were either missing items or wrong, we just ate and left The manager did say he found it difficult to get a plumber( there were issues with the boiler ) he did offer me my money back if before 6 so he could re let my room ( with no hot water) Tip for Hotel You have a captive audience , you are on the WHW, charge more money and clean your act up and the hotel !

Booked this place as a treat for my penultimate night on the WHW and it was definitely a mistake. Probably one of the worst stays I have ever had, room was small and had multiple issues from grime on the shower screen, stains on the curtains and bedding. I found a used tissue in the drawer next to the bed, along with an old phone charger, so clearly had not been properly cleaned. The room key did not work properly in the door so took about 10mins trying each time to get in (although it would have been better to just stay outside) Staff (which seemed to be pretty much one person) was fine, although limited. Highlight was the Bar area was nice with a great view and breakfast (I had porridge) was fine. The price was £100+ which was defintley too much.

Arrived and we were told our reservation had been cancelled. Staff attempted to contact manager to no avail. Luckily ended up in a cabin, but had to be moved 3 times to get one where basic things worked. No hot showers, no soap or hand driers in the bathrooms, food took an hour to arrive after ordering.

I have stayed here before and I don’t think it was quite as bad but its decline has been constant for last several years particularly the quality of the food but all round and now I just won’t use it. It is mainly the disparity between price and what you get relative to other places on the WHW for example. For my stay in KLL in July I’ve cancelled here and gone to a glamping pod nearby instead because I just think that £200+ amount for the standard they offer is a blatant rip off. Dinner was reheated from frozen mush, breakfast looked like it had been cooked days ago and reheated, the beer is uninspired when the area is packed with great craft beers, the staff communication is poor (although they seem pleasant), the decor is not tired it’s in a coma, the bedrooms are not clean, they are passable but I’m sorry my room had a fishy odour either cooking or worse. For half the price you’d shrug, fine. For the price they are charging it’s actually disgraceful. It’s under-investment, cutting corners, under staffed and lack of experience, squeezing margins, and it’s clearly a deliberate not neglectful strategy. It’s a trapped passing market. Yes the view is incredible. But my strong suggestion is go for a glass of something in the evening and then leave.

Clean and comfortable room and breakfast was very good. The hotel is in a lovely location. The views over the Loch from the terrace are beautiful. Otherwise though it's tired and in need of some tlc. We had dinner in the Bothy Bar but left as soon as we could because they put the TV onto watch the football which we had no interest in and certainly didn't want to listen to it while having our meal. We only saw 2 members of staff working while we were there - they seemed to be doing everything and did their best.

We received a livingsocial voucher from our daughter who lives in Australia. We booked to stay at the MacDonald Hotel, Kinlockleven on the 24th and 25th January, which they confirmed, however on the 8 January the hotel advised they advised that they were closing the hotel, during these dates and would be reopening until 8th February. We travelled to Australia on the 6th Feb, and won’t be returning until mid April. We tried to rebook our stay for the 18th and 19th April, but we’re told the hotel won’t honour this as the voucher must be used before the end of March, which clearly we can’t do. The hotel has been less than helpful indeed they have been difficult to deal with and won’t reply to emails. Calling them, your told they need to talk to head office, but never hear back. As you can imagine we have lost out on a nice weekend away, and our daughter has lost her money, as the hotel won’t issue a cancellation email, which would allow her to claim a refund. If this is how they treat customers I’ll be avoiding them and all their sister hotels.

I really enjoyed my stay here, some of the reviews are moaning about the stairway but it’s a relatively old building I’m not sure what they could do to improve it. I stayed in a room not a cabin so I can’t comment on them. Room was clean tidy the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was ok the sausage could have done with being browned off a bit more but that’s just my personal choice. Overall I would definitely stay here again
