CBH Scotlands Spa Hotel

CBH Scotlands Spa Hotel ★★★

📍 38 40 Bonnethill Rd, Pitlochry

"Great location for town centre and though we didn’t drive there was a very large carpark. Got into room half hour early. Room was a double deluxe and a good size. Very clean, can’t fault cleanliness anywhere in the hotel. En-suite was spotless. Room bed was very comfortable. Iron, ironing board, fan, robes and slippers provided. Coffee machine as well as kettle with tea, normal coffee and hot chocolate. Bar was well stocked and a competitive price for for town. Breakfast had a good selection for both continental and hot offerings. Swimming pool is good to have and was well used but never overly busy. Main areas were nicely decorated and furnished and complimented the building but the decor in the likes of the halls and stairways as well as the bedroom itself in need of a bit of modernisation. All in all a very good stay and would return."

"What a lovely weekend stay at this most characterful resort hotel. A great vibe among the team leading to a friendly, professional and courteous guest experience from arrival and check-in, to dining, evening of drinks around the real fire and a beautiful breakfast following a comfortable restful night in a clean room and lovely freshen up shower in the morning. Thank you Team Atholl Palace, you provided us with an exemplary experience of Scottish Highland hospitality, Iain Sutherland"

"Very nice scenic, good for couples or family to relax, enjoy the nature and the sun. Restaurant’s food is in good quality. Good selection of drinks. Room was a bit old with old carpet and bed. Probably need renovation. Evaluator not working so we need to take the stairs with our luggage’s."

Dalmunzie Castle Hotel

Dalmunzie Castle Hotel ★★★

📍 Spittal of Glenshee, Blairgowrie

"The castle is in a stunning location in the Cairngorns. Lots of amazing hikes or walks from the castle. Amazing views all around. The food from the restaurant (and the breakfast) was excellent from start to finish. Our room was a loft and it nice, but could use a deep clean. We did have an issue with one member of staff who was unfriendly and occasionally rude. She was fortunately the exception - the rest of the staff were helpful, professional and kind."

"Very welcoming and warm! Ralph and Lindsey were brilliant, so lovely! Doggo friendly which is bonus, great pint selection. Would definitely recommend to friend if they were visiting! Ralph even told us to visit Pitlochry on the way home and was telling us about the history of the village. Fire place is great and lovely wee pub."

"Single room was perfectly comfortable but didn't have a bedside table/shelf or bedside lamp. A little bit of dust but possibly room hadn't been in use and just from open window. I would definitely stay again, very convenient location."

The Pitlochry Hydro Hotel ★★★
"Nice relaxed quiet atmosphere.  Breakfast was very poor. Hot food lukewarm-  really no service involved. Not a great fan of getting up and down multiple times for a meal. I would have preferred an electric shower. The location of the hotel was unsuitable for me. I stayed overnight to attend the theatre. I didn’t have a car so I had to walk back on my own in the dark. In retrospect I should have checked where the hotel was situated. By the time I got back the bar was closed so a bit disappointing "

"Cool castle and great restaurant. Both dinner and breakfast are great. I am happy with everything. There is free parking. All rooms are different, so choose responsibly :) I would like to mention the water in the room - the sparkling water is very tasty. But a small bottle is not enough, people in your restaurant actually drink whiskey, they really need it in the morning :) It is a pity that the fireplace was not burning, it adds coziness."

"Great location, looks lovely from the outside. Pre-booked our table for the following evening for my birthday meal. Was seated by the window. We said we were not in a hurry but they came to take the order 3 times in 5 minutes, we said again, no hurry and was told "the table is booked again at 6pm as they had sat there for 2 nights previous (this was 4pm). We said we were happy to move. He came back and said no bother although they are "technically fully booked" - all a bit odd we thought. We asked for a South African white wine and was told "we haven't got any but we do have something similar I want to get rid of!" We felt rushed so ordered our main course. I was going to have a bottle of wine, dessert etc but didn't feel welcome. Mains arrived with barely and veg, one was luke warm. No prawns in my fish pie. When asked if everything was ok I mention the lack of prawns and was told he would speak to the chef. Never came back. We decided to leave so as we paid I asked what the chef said and was told " the chef said he put them in" effectively calling me a liar! When I said "for the record, there were no prawns in my pie" I was completely ignored. Awful experience on my birthday, was not worth the money. Would not recommend. Fish pie (no prawns), fish mornay, 2 small white wine £60. Pictures are of the total meal including all veg."
