Protea Hotel Knysna Quays ★★★★
"Amazing stay in Protea Knysna. Very good location on the waterfront. Easy access to food and the waterfront shops! Very safe and hotel is clean and good! Would recommend"
The Russel Hotel ★★★
"The room was quite spacious for three adults. It had one large double bed and two single beds. The bathroom was very large. Breakfast was à la carte. The location was excellent, close to the town center."
Turbine Hotel & Spa ★★★★★
"We slept for 3 nights in the Lagoon Suite 206, right on the water and unfortunately also directly above a restaurant with outdoor seating. From 8 a.m. to midnight it was incredibly noisy and we couldn't enjoy the suite and the great view over the lagoon. Dear Turbine team: In the future, please warn your guests about this “noisy” situation in Suite 206 when checking in. You pay twice as much for a suite as for a room. Unfortunately, since the hotel was fully booked over Christmas, we had nowhere else to go."
Knysna Log-Inn Hotel ★★★★
"The Team where extremely efficient, helpful and professional. The Conference facility offered natural light with a deck leading off the venue which made breaktime very pleasant."
The Lofts Boutique Hotel ★★★★
"Had the most amazing time with my daughters (both under 10), they were spoilt by the staff and we had a wonderful time. The amenities were stunning, from the lagoon views to the chess board and the food at the Nest is delicious. Will definitely recommend."
Pezula Nature Retreat ★★★★★
"I travelled with a group of golfing friends and stayed in Room 16 from 10 to 14 April 2026. We all thoroughly enjoyed visiting Knysna in general and Pezula in particular. As a returning guest, I noticed management's attention to detail and dedication to maintenance (well done!). It is always great to see so many familiar friendly faces among the staff, which shows that they are well trained and properly looked after. Pezula remains a world-class golfing destination with plenty on offer for non-golfers too. The hotel runs like a well-oiled machine while still retaining a personal touch... and nothing beats those views! A massive thanks to Reinhardt and his team for another wonderful stay. We'll definitely be back soon."
Brenton on Sea Cottages ★★★★
"Brenton on Sea Cottages are beautifully maintained; everything was so neat and clean. I have never visited a holiday resort/cottage where the gardens were so neatly maintained. The personnel were very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely time."
Issaquena Heights Boutique Hotel ★★★★
"What an utter disappointment! Such a beautiful location and such terrible management. We booked and paid in advance for a 50 m2 suite with a king size bed and lagoon views via booking com the day before and were so looking forward to our stay. - At arrival yesterday, the manager told us that our room had magically been downgraded to a small single bedroom with a queen size bed . He said that there must have been an advertisement mistake… As it was already late afternoon when we came back from golf and we were exhausted listening to his excuses we reluctantly accepted our fate in order not to lose more valuable holiday time, The noise from next door during the night on the shared terrace, the foul odor from stale water in the bathroom , no internet etc. did not directly add to our enjoyment. - The day manager this morning excused the “hot” breakfast being cold breakfast and wanted to put us in touch with the American owner of the venue. He let us wait for twenty minutes before we than left this sad place.. . It all comes from the top, as they say, no wonder.."
Aestas Bed and Breakfast ★★★
"The location is convenient - walking to the embankment. A quiet closed area, a beautiful garden and a pool. In the evening the host lights candles in the garden and leaves the pad, it is very nice. The rooms are cozy, clean. The room has a refrigerator, a teapot and tea with coffee and milk. The host told very detailed where to go, everything about the sights of the surrounding areas, prepared maps. In short, you don't need to look for the place to go, everything made by the host of the hotel. Separately mark the great breakfasts! Excellent fruit salad, even with cherries in composition, yoghurt, different kinds of muscles and toasts from different bread varieties. Eggs, becons, sausages and much more. Limitless, magnificent coffee. The owner himself covers the table! That's very nice! There is a great uptown pizza near the hotel, delicious and not expensive. We liked everything!"

Brenton Haven Beachfront Resort
"We truly enjoyed our stay with them. Our unit was beautifully laid out and spacious with the most spectacular views of the ocean. It combines a relaxed holiday feel with luxury and comfort. Smelling the ocean and hearing the waves makes you forget about everything else and keeps you captured in the moment. The staff are really friendly and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at their stunning restaurant. I would definitely recommend a stay with them. Monique Botha"
Kanonkop House
"Had a wonderful 3 night stay at Kanonkop. Mark & Adele were perfect hosts, attentive, friendly and fun. They also organised a Braai one evening during our stay, which was excellent. The room was fabulous with stunning views over the lagoon and down to the ocean. We loved the "help yourself bar", although the staff were always around to help :) They had thoughtfully made a reservation at a local restaurant for us on our first night so we were covered. We will definitely return!"
St. James of Knysna
"We had a superb stay. The location is excellent, breakfast was great and the staff were lovely. The free boat trip on the lagoon was an added bonus. We hope to stay here again in the future"
Simola Hotel, Country Club & Spa
"We were disappointed with the level of service and professionalism we experienced during our recent stay. While the property is truly beautiful and has so much potential, our visit was overshadowed by the attitude and behaviour of staff members, where we constantly felt like we had to tread very carefully with even the simplest requests, as interactions often felt tense and staff seemed on edge—sometimes outright rude. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere that is the opposite of what one would expect from a hospitality-focused establishment."
Orange Inn Knysna
"Perfectly situated with stunning views and staff was welcoming and friendly. Was greeted next morning with a warm breakfast which I really enjoyed. Will definitly return. "
Guinea Fowl Lodge - Lagoon & Heads View B&B, Central Knysna
"We were welcomed with a warm smile. The room was spacious and comfortable. Everything you need. Great location we walked everywhere. Breakfast was great with an even more amazing view from the deck. We fully enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back. Thank you to Lucas and team"
Elephant Hide of Knysna Guest Lodge
"Everything was fine . Good value for money , clean and large rooms with good view . The breakfast is excellent and deserve a 6 stars on 5 . But the place remains bit isolated from the city ."
Oyster Creek Lodge
"This place is now called Oyster Creek Lodge, and looks terrific on the web, with a gallery of photos that sadly no longer reflect the lodge as it is today. The original owner has sold it to a Cape Town company, who have no hands-on interest in its upkeep and/or maintenance. The lodge is located well, outside Knysna, but needs a general upgrade to keep it at the top of the star gradings. As a self catering lodge, it contains most of what one is accustomed to finding in such an establishment, but not top of the range equipment. It is totally dependent on mains power, so the load shedding schedule affects your ability to eat in. Fortunately we had our own load shedding lamp, as only one was available in the room. No gas cooker, no aircon, no overhead fan, no cushions on the outside chairs, no shelf in the bathroom for toiletries and toothbrushes, and only a very uncomfortable and low couch inside for relaxing on. What had promised to be a great stay, ended up being a bit of a disappointment. We are unlikely to return for another visit."
