The Sunset Beach Resort - Koh Kho Khao

The hotel is located on Kekao Island, 110km from Phuket, a 2-hour drive. The car ferry time to the island is 8:30, 10:30, 12:30, 14:30, 16:30, and the boat ferry time is 20 minutes. The first impression when arriving at the hotel is that it is remote and old. The room is very large, but the towels are old. The bedding is much better than the towels. The bathroom is huge and the condition is acceptable. There are many elderly people in Western Europe, and they seem to live here all the time, so after staying there for a day, I felt that it was really nice here. The breakfast is not rich, but there are plenty of Thai food, fruits, drinks, and Western breakfast. It is no problem to eat well. The beach is nice with small waves, perfect for swimming in the sea. Only hotel guests play on the beach, which is basically exclusive and very pleasant.

We stayed at this hotel from February 1 to 14, 2024. What was unexpected for us was that you have to get to the hotel by minivan, then by boat!!! (40 baht) and then by tuk-tuk (250 baht one way). Therefore, every time you decide to go somewhere, you will have to get there for a long time from the hotel. There are no restaurants nearby (except for 1, which is located in the hotel), shops or anything else. There is nothing to go out or see in the evening. You can only buy fruit in the hotel restaurant. The hotel is modest, but the staff is very friendly. They cleaned the room every day, changed towels, put water. At the reception, you can exchange dollars for baht. The territory is neat, the beach was cleaned every morning. The food is small in selection, but you will not go hungry. I mainly ate eggs with waffles for breakfast, pasta with chicken for lunch, breaded shrimp for dinner. Vegetables: carrots, peppers, lettuce, cucumbers. Fruits: bananas, watermelon, pineapple, mango, papaya. The sea was warm, but cloudy, you couldn't see anything in the mask, there were no jellyfish, no plankton either, there was no lifeguard on the beach. There was a massage tent on the beach, we went there for a massage for 500 baht, I recommend trying it, it's a good relaxation. There are also a lot of lizards in the hotel running along the ceilings. We turned it on at night - we took a mosquito repellent with us from Russia. The hotel is not crowded, very quiet. A good place to spend time alone with your significant other, take a break from the hustle and bustle, watch movies (we bought a local SIM card at the airport), enjoying the surf and fruits. I give the place 7.5 out of 10, next time we will choose a livelier place.
