Novotel Hotels in Koh Si Chang

The speed boat ride to the island was terrible: the boat was old, badly driven by the pilot who went too fast causing much pounding and turbulence (the ocean was flat that day - he was driving up to 50 knots). The boat driver did not help passengers with bags, or with climbing in and out of the boat. We were dropped off at the town pier and not at the hotel, and then had to wait some time for hotel transport. A very bad beginning to the hotel stay, but hotel staff told us it was because the hotel's boat was broken-down. In which case Novotel should organise better alternative transport and not have charged passengers the high price for the very poor transport. Positives are that the hotel staff are wonderful. The masseuse was excellent. Less positive: the main swimming pool water was cloudy, but the water in the pool villa was clear. The air pollution made the stay on Sichang less enjoyable than usual (we are regular visitors) - you could not even see the mainland.
