This is fourth stay at Tabeak and it certainly won’t be our last. The view from here is unbelievable, to watch the sunrise over the Hong islands with the natural soundtrack of jungle really is something special. If you love wildlife and peace this is the place to stay, hornbills literally outside your door, monkeys, squirrels, butterfly’s, bats, numerous birds, toads and frogs, it’s beautiful. The bungalows are basic but spacious and very clean, we had a fridge in our room with was a nice touch, and a kettle with tea and coffee with two bottles of water every day. We rented a scooter from Pramot for our stay (he knows everything about the island is so helpful and very friendly) to explore the island, which I really recommend, so much to see, rice paddy fields, rubber trees, mangroves, quiet beaches, forests and of course the views. But even if you don’t want to scooter everywhere there are a lot of options for places to eat within walking distance. Our favourite places to eat, to name a few were, sabai corner, parabar, and Chaba cafe next door, ciao Bella, yaonoi seafood next door to Charlie bar. And you can get really cheap and delicious food from many of the little roadside restaurants in the village. We also did a cookery class with Mina, which I highly recommend, which Pramot arranged for us. I can’t rate this island and bungalows enough, it’s our favourite place in Thailand. We’ve done luxury resorts in the past but give me a basic bungalow in a stunning setting surrounded by wildlife anytime!
