Although it's an older hotel, the rooms and hallways were spotless and tidy. The room itself was incredibly spacious, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the bathroom seemed to have been recently renovated. I particularly loved the hotel's design aesthetic; every detail exuded a Japanese retro elegance, making for a truly wonderful experience. While the hotel's location is a bit further from Sannomiya, it's conveniently close to Kobe Port, Coast Building, and Motomachi Street, making it a great option for a short stay.

The hotel is old yet classic. Everything is in general well maintained, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The hotel may not be so accessible compared with those in Sannomiya, but the hotel offers shuttle bus to Sannomiya daily and Shin-Kobe on weekends. It helps you get around and go to the train stations. However, do note that the bus may be full sometimes. But even so or if you miss the bus, it won’t be long to walk to Kobe (Rapid and Special Rapid) or Motomachi (Rapid), depending on the train you need to take. I really like the view. Even the room not facing the sea has a nice view both during the day and night. The Meriken park is also just downstairs. The hotel has a free self-service laundry and a Family Mart, but there are limited items to buy after 8 PM since no staff will be there. Another limitaiton is that the gym and the food service both close after 10 PM, if I recall correctly.

I booked this room for the last day, and it was excellent. It was a corner sea-view room with unbeatable scenery. The room was spacious, as were the bed and bathroom. It faced Kobe Port directly, and the night view was stunning. Perhaps due to the marathon the next day, there were quite a lot of people around.

Hotel reviews should be comprehensive, but if the hygiene is terrible, there's no point even bothering to rate it. This is the first time I've checked into a room where the toilet still had unflushed contents. Although the hotel apologized and claimed the toilet itself was clean, who can give me a reasonable explanation for what was *in* the toilet? Last time I stayed at another Okura, the towels had strange hairs on them. Now it's just getting more and more outrageous. Can't they double-check after cleaning? Do you just say 'sorry' after making a mistake and then walk away? Is this your service attitude?

The hotel was very crowded during the three-day holiday, so I didn't particularly notice the hotel service. However, the shuttle bus was incredibly convenient! Just be sure to note that the return times and the times for the shuttle to Sannomiya are different. Although it wasn't a direct ocean view room, the scenery was still nice, and I even saw a rainbow~ The carpets had no strange odors, and the clean elevators were a big plus~ On another note, I wouldn't recommend staying here if you're planning on shopping a lot, it's quite far out.
