Maritsa Studios

We payed for 2 nights (maritsa) in standard room with balcony (3beded), and we didnt get the room nor the building we payed for. Our room was couple of buildings away (not in blue maritsa) and for first view it was worse than maritsa room we payed for but we wanted to get most of they and was in a hurry... I askwd where is aircondition? she said it is extra pay... i told her and later showed that is included and after a while she said its on the house. When we came back later we saw first cockroach, water was pouring mid from (siphon) and we told her that we would like the we payed from as we said on first comment. She said that maritsa is full so she cant give as any room and she will spray the cockroaches... and fix toilet water on floor... next day, new cockroaches, water on bathroom floor, spyder web... zero, we didnt have hot water nor we used anything... Basic accommodation, clean and functional. Friendly, helpful owner. Went with Love Holidays; good value! Location was very good, about 150 meters to Agios Stefanos beach, where you can swim over to Kastri Island, and there are various water sports are available. There is a pool next door that's free to use, with sunbeds and bar serving food and drinks all day. Almost everywhere with a swimming pool allow anyone to use, providing you buy drinks. There is a really good evening restaurant just a few minutes walk up the hill from The Maritsa serving fabulous food, with a view of the sea and Kastri Island. Very happy that the best restaurant we tried was the closest, and not overpriced either. For more restaurants, shops and pools etc. It's about half hour walk down towards the harbour. The beach is busier down there, but there are more eateries to chose from. The reason I give 4 stars and not 5, is that the showers in both our apartments had no holder for the shower head, and were very tiny with a curtain that keeps sticking to you unless you carefully stretch it out and spray it to the tiles and shower tray, but with no holder it's difficult to wash long hair and you can't bend over to wash it due to the lack of space and the curtain. Some other apartments may have better ones, but we just had 2 studios for 2. I know there are larger apartments in the main building. The owner is lovely and very easy going. We were allowed to keep both our rooms until 8pm as we had a late flight, and there was no hurry to pay the tourist tax of 12 euros and the aircon fee of 7 euros per day. This has to be paid in cash, but there are plenty of cash points. The nearest is 5 mins down the road, next to Supermarket Jim. This is well stocked and has pretty much everything anyone could need on holiday. Any questions, I'm happy to try and answer.

We have just stayed here for a week and cannot knock the place. This is excellent value for money. No, it’s not 5 star but you don’t pay 5 star prices. Basic accommodation but the air conditioning unit is almost brand new and ferocious. The only half hearted negative would be there only being 2 usable power sockets for charging phones etc. The free use of the pool next door is a plus, and it is a nice pool area.

The beep every 2 seconds during the night was a Eurasian Scops Owl. I monitored it on BirdNET. The place is beautifully maintained by Maritsa and her husband Great location with a good selection of restaurants within walking distance. Jim's supermatket has everything you need from fresh fruit and vegetables, every kind of drink you need and at very reasonable prices. Air conditioning is €7 per night.

Nice block of simply furnished apartments located at the start of Kefalos, 250 yds from the bus stop, 300 yds from the supermarket and just a little further to the fabulous Agios Stefanos beach. We had an upstairs apartment which had distant sea views to the right, but the view to the left was not so good as building demolition work was under way. The ground floor apartments didn’t have any separated private space, just one large shared area. We were there for a week and our apartment was cleaned every other day, with linen and towels change just once, together with a new toilet roll, so make sure you take some tissues just in case you run out! The apartment had a safe which was charged at €15 for the week. Tourist tax was €14. We never needed the air-conditioning so not sure of the cost. The worst things associated with these apartments was a loud bleep every 2 seconds between the hours of 22.00 and 04.00, some sort of alarm, the reason of which we never found out. We used the pool and pool bar in the sister apartments next door where you can get a large beer for €4.5.
