Upon arrival at the hotel we were shocked at the state of the room allocated to us. Not only did the room not match a single photograph on both the Jet2 website and the hotels website but it was disgusting. The tap was filled with limescale and dirt, the shower wall and tray were filthy and covered with marks from the previous guests. Furthermore, the bathroom floor was dirty (as well as the rest of the rooms), the kitchen tap was also incredibly dirty and we took glasses/cutlery out of the cupboard to find that they were just as unclean as everywhere else. The sofa in the kitchen was disgusting, covered in dirt and marks. In the evening the room was incredibly loud due to being so close to the main road and we could hear the music blasting from other guests. On seeing the room allocated to us we went straight to reception to report our concerns regarding the room but the receptionist was far from helpful. After getting in touch to complain to Jet2, the hotel sent a cleaner out to 'deep clean' the room and bathroom, in which the 'cleaner' mopped the bathroom floor and left (she wasn't even in there for 10 minutes). We rang Jet2 Holidays back to discuss this and they suggested that the hotel move us if possible. During the phone call with Jet2, we were told “people’s expectations differ”, in which we questioned if “good hygiene was an ‘expectation’ when you pay for a hotel”. Bearing in mind we paid extra for better accommodation (2 bed apartment). As a couple, we had both previously been university students but nothing could have prepared us for the condition of this room. The room was filthy, dark and vastly outdated. I also made a point to the customer service team that “no one expects to have a shower and come out feeling dirtier than before!”.
