We stayed at Mara Simba Lodge in June as a group of 3 friends, enjoying the lovely weather. The lodge, located deep in the wild near the Mara River, offers breathtaking scenery and a great location to go on the game drives for the hunt of the big5, lucky enough we had some great experiences. However, despite these positives, my experience fell short of expectations for a lodge that claims a 4-star rating and luxury. Rooms: We stayed in a triple room and unfortunately, the rooms are in urgent need of an upgrade. The furniture is outdated. The bathroom, too, was old and required maintenance, while the bed was uncomfortable. Additionally, the level of cleanliness was not up to what I was expecting. I tried to raise this issue with the front desk but they ensured me we have a good room. Food: The lodge offers buffet-style meals, which was convenient. However, the food lacked variety and flavor, especially for those staying more than a couple of nights. A little more creativity and would elevate the dining experience. The meals packed for the game drivers need an upgrade. The staff were friendly and welcoming, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere. The outdoor areas, including the lodge's surroundings, were stunning and well-maintained. While the lodge is situated in a fantastic location with amazing views of the wild, the overall experience is not up to the standard of a luxury 4-star accommodation. For the price, aside from the natural beauty, the rooms fall short. I would definitely recommend the masi mara safari experience but not the lodge.
