Silka Maytower Kuala Lumpur

Golden Triangle Kuala Lumpur|0.08km from Jakel Mall
Stayed 5 nights in studio suite. Its a spacious plus luxurious room. A romantic one indeed. Easy to commute to nearby shopping paradise in Jln TAR, Jakel Mall stands right opposite Silka. LRT Masjid Jamek is also conveniently located within walking distance. Local night market enlivens Saturday night apart from affordable hawkers stalls at food court Jln Masjid India. The place thrives and we planned our leisure outings carefully not to be trapped in the hectic people and traffic. We enjoyed the room so much and would never hesitate to revisit anytime. Our room was on the 24th (23A) and we're not reminded of the non existence of 24th floor. We had to navigate ourselves asking other visitors in the elevator. It was made worst with the door nit detecting the keycard twice. We had to go down to the front desk to reactivate it. However, the 2nd time we reported that red light appeared on the door after touching the keycard, the staff replied with annoying remarks (her voice intonation) telling us that the card works fine. As if she's annoyed with our frequent reports. Later, she showed us how to use the card to the elevator (thumping her feet unhappily). Thanks to her, later we didn't have anymore problems gaining access to our room for the rest of the stay. Cleanliness, renovation works should be scheduled during the presence of the least visitors. Staff's courtsey could be polished to improve too. Apart from that, me and my husband humbly enjoyed Silka and hope to return for much better experience.

M Palace Hotel

Golden Triangle Kuala Lumpur|0.24km from Jakel Mall
A new hotel that is old. I decided to stay for 2 nights because the evaluation on the net was high. However, when I went there, I had to wait 30 minutes in front of the front desk at check-in. I think it's okay to say a word, but I was disappointed because I didn't seem to be in a hurry and was calm. What surprised me was that I requested a deposit of 100 ringgit and ”in cash”. Normally it would be a credit card. Unfortunately, when I visited the hotel, I was short of ringgit on hand, and I had only one 100RM banknote and less than 50RM of small money, and the rest were Japanese yen and US dollars. After all, more than two-thirds of my money was taken at the front desk. Even if you are told to ”return later”, it would be a problem if you returned the ringgit just before returning to Japan, and it is not always convenient to go to a money changer immediately after check-in. In the first place, it is unreasonable and strange to take a deposit that does not make sense, such as a deposit. I have already paid the accommodation fee, but I wonder what I want to do by collecting a refund deposit anyway. Well, other hotels also make deposits, so even if you overlook it, you won't be able to pay anything with cash. From the standpoint of travelers who want to avoid unnecessary currency exchange as much as possible, it is unreasonable. What would you do if you had fewer ringgits on hand? Are you forced to exchange money? That is the lack of service spirit. I feel a strong resentment. When I moved to the room, I noticed that it was functional because it was young, but there were no windows. After all, if there is no window in one place, the feeling of blockage is strong. All amenities are provided, but there are no hand towels, bathrobes, bathtubs, toothbrushes, hair dryers, shoehorns, slippers, or refrigerators. One thing I found convenient was that the international power plug at the bedside had a USB socket. There is only something new there. Amenity is not bad compared to hotels in the same price range. However, I was surprised that the voices of children making noise in the corridor and the roaring noises were ”out of the box” into the room. I thought that the structure was sweet, and when I looked at the surface of the inner wall, I felt that the construction was rough. The diet needs total improvement. The chairs in the dining room are made of plastic and cheap like those found in food stalls. Although it is a large hotel, it has a small repertoire and no soups or salads. The Malay meal was welcome to me, but what if the guest didn't like it? There is only one type of bread. The only drinks were coffee, tea and orange juice. Light orange juice, like melted powdered drinks, is particularly terrible and not drinkable. By the way, the waiter does not return a greeting. If this is the case, it would be better to stop serving breakfast and focus on other places. Baggage check-in after check-out is very polite. It is managed with individual tags in a locked private room with a surveillance camera. I'm glad about this. Overall, it's hard to recommend this hotel as it is. Meals and deposits are too terrible. The cost performance may be high, but considering that check-in costs 100RM, which is equivalent to one night in a single room, I would pay 1.5 to 2 times to upgrade the hotel. I regret that I should have done so. Each person has different values, so you can choose according to your wishes, but this time I probably made the wrong choice. It's a shame.

Avoid at all cost!! They charge you full payment. Including 10% service charge + 6% tax! No other hotel does that! Upon walking into the room and opening the bathroom, two cockroaches ran into the shower. The cover to the drain was not available and we had to use the rubbish bin to cover the hole as I could imagine rats or other insects crawling up. See imagines!! HONESTLY that did not throw us off the hotel yet..... it was the fact that was no Wifi at all! When their advert and brochures clearly state high speed internet!! I asked reception about it, she asked me what phone I have? I said iPhone.. she said that’s why, Apple phones cannot connect to wifi here. Like what???!!!!! I’ve never heard of such nonsense! They must think we foreigners have stupid written on our foreheads! Later on.. approaching 11.30pm, still without internet we asked another receptionist, only to be told he will reset the internet and it should work in 15mins. To no avail. So basically we had no choice but to check out (only stayed one out of the four nights), as it was imperative for us to have access to the internet. The owner came out to help us only to be shown that the building wifi did not work on the higher levels either. We even showed him the cockroaches running around in another room they tried to offer us. The worst is yet to come! No refunds provided at all! If you haven’t provided me with a service, why should I pay you?! Pay you for what! In western countries you would never get away with things like that! The reception lady even tried to say it wasn’t her fault and she’s a worker and she doesn’t get paid. Well you have taken my money so technically you are getting paid for something your not doing. Ridiculous! The owner kept trying to tell us to contact the manager, he obviously does not think he has the power or authority to make that decision! What a joke!! Good luck to this run down hotel! Avoid avoid avoid!!!!!!!! They may advertise cheap on booking.com but they add all the fees on top when you check in and it’s more expensive than the other hotels you may consider.

First the positive: The location is ideal, there are several good and cheap restaurants and markets that are targeted at Muslim tourists. The clothing, fabric and jewelry shops in the surrounding area are targeted by visitors from Asia and the Arab States. The area is much more pleasant than the somewhat overtourist Chinatown area. Who is fit can explore a large part of the city from here to foot. In addition, you are neither wake up by mosques nor by church noise. However, the rooms are ok, but partly a little more habitable, and smaller than offered. When we arrived in the evening with our reservation made via ZEN rooms, we received a rather simple substandard room which apparently did not correspond to the booked «Deluxe King Room». When we complained at the reception, we were confident on the next day, because today all the better rooms were located. On the next morning we were allowed to choose: only the 3. Rooms were acceptable (the colour of the screwed clothing was leafed, the glass tabla was missing above the washing venue).... But all were significantly smaller than the 23m2 indicated in the booking!
