Clean and well-equipped. The staff were lovely. It's just a 100-meter walk from the station.

The room was clean and comfortable, though quite compact, which is typical for Japanese accommodations. Facilities were excellent and well-maintained, with convenient self check-in and check-out. The location is superb, right in the city center, offering plenty of dining options for evening outings.

The room was clean, and Pola skincare products were available at the front desk. Breakfast was included and quite varied, offering slightly better value for money compared to a Toyoko Inn in a major city. We flew into Fukuoka and then took a direct bus to Kumamoto, arriving at Sakuramachi Bus Terminal in just over two hours. The hotel was a very short walk from there, about 7-8 minutes. There's a shopping street within a five-minute walk, and it's super convenient for day trips to attractions like Takachiho and Aso, as direct buses are available.

A major highlight of Toyoko Inn is the complimentary breakfast. They also offered coffee in the morning, which I could take back to my room and enjoy at my leisure.

The location is superb! It's right by Sakuramachi Bus Stop, and close to Kumamoto Castle, Toricho, and the main bus terminal, making everything incredibly convenient. Free breakfast is also a nice bonus. My only minor complaint is that the bathroom ventilation isn't very efficient, so it can get quite stuffy when taking a hot shower.

Convenient location, would book again.

I booked the wrong hotel. I wanted one near JR Kumamoto Station for easy access, but this one was in front of the Sakuramachi Bus Terminal. Since I left my luggage at the station during the day, I had to go back to the station to retrieve it after visiting Kumamoto Castle in the evening, and then take a taxi to the hotel. I could have taken the train, but it was too tiring, and I wasn't familiar with the route. The hotel is very close to the Shimotsuji Suspension Road, which I visited the next evening. The hotel layout wasn't very practical. Check-in and check-out are mostly self-service. The breakfast restaurant is to the right of the elevator entrance, and the corridor is too narrow; people were blocking the corridor in the morning. The room layout was reasonable, but the bed was a bit hard, and I didn't sleep well. The breakfast selection wasn't extensive, but it was basic. They had curry rice 🍛, but I didn't eat it; I'm not used to eating breakfast early. Many Japanese people like it, and it's a popular choice for local business travelers.

There weren't many reviews and it seemed like there were a lot of locals who were tourists. The room photos were so old that I thought I'd just sleep there, but it must have been remodeled, so it was different from the photos. The exterior of the building also looked like it was under construction, and it was clean. The staff were very friendly. The room was a little bigger than other local business hotels. I think I could open a suitcase under the bed and walk around leisurely. However, the bed had long legs so I could see underneath, which was clean, but I think it wasn't fixed, so the bed was pushed a little. Breakfast was included, so it was clean. I ate delicious home-cooked food, drank fresh fruit drinks, and had coffee. I went up to the room and spent some leisurely time before checking out. (The location is also good. There is a bus terminal, shopping mall, and arcade nearby on the Daegaseon Line.)
