I also really liked the hot springs ♨️. Both the bed and pillows were very comfortable.
Both dinner and breakfast had a wide variety of dishes and were delicious!
On New Year's Day, they even served zenzai and kinako mochi.
After checking out, we got a free ticket to the nearby bathhouse (Agannasse), where we enjoyed the open-air bath and rock sauna until after 3pm. I went with my daughter, and she also said it was a nice change of pace and she really enjoyed it. 😊

Great Location and nice staffs are covering the old fashioned facilities which had been 60 years since its establishment. I love all of this hotel including the breakfast. Japanese style breakfast is recommended.

Please aware if you decide to park at Nikko, they offer parking at 13:30-next day 1130 , unlimited access for 1500 yen. We didn't know that, and we got into the parking at. 1315, the hotel reception told us that we need to pay extra hour because of it. When we checked out, they told us they waived the extra hour fee cause they should have informed us. Hotel is decent, clean n in good location. Service is well and staff are very helpful.

A lovely hotel to stay in close to Kumamoto Castle. The rooms are nice and clean with friendly staff who are very helpful.
Bath areas on the 12th floor are also quite nice and have a range of offerings inside.
Breakfast was included with the price we paid, however, all the food was a little tasteless, if paying for breakfast, it is easy to go downstairs and get something but I’d probably go somewhere else if paying.

The location is very good. It is very close to either the Kumamoto Castle or the Ginza Dori;
The staff is polite and sincere;
Room is tidy and neat;
The only disadvantage is hotel doesn’t have their own carpark. Fortunately, there are many carpark nearby.

It’s a very clean and spacious hotel room. We got a room with a view so that’s a bonus! It’s located inside a mall, could be difficult to find it but it’s definitely convenient! You can find anything you want in that mall! 😌

There are 2 Daiwa Roynet Hotels in Kumamoto, so we took a taxi to the wrong one! Fortunately, they are walking distance from each other. The taxi driver cannot read English, so you need to be clear that it is the Ginza Dori one. It is not near to the railway station, so tram ride is needed. We took a taxi because there were 2 of us and 2 large bags. I like the room size because of our large suitcases. There are many restaurants nearby. We love this place

Great value for what we have paid for. Efficient check-in process. High quality public bath facilities with two hot hot springs (one indoor and one outdoor), one sauna and one cold water pool. Although this hotel is listed as a 3-star hotel, we would say it is much better than many 4-star hotels in many regards. The employees at the check-in desk speak decent English too.

Excellent
AannaxureHas a great stay and will be back. The hotel is conveniently situated on top of the shopping mall and next to train station. Parking is just in b1 and the hotel will give you discount when parking in b1 which cost only 1.000 yen for overnight parking. The room is nice and super comfy to stay. The staffs are all so attentive and friendly.
SSooI recently stayed at a super new hotel in Kumamoto, and it truly exceeded my expectations. The location is fantastic—right in the heart of the city, making it incredibly convenient for both sightseeing and shopping. The hotel is just a short walk away from bustling shopping areas, so it’s easy to explore local boutiques, malls, and cafes. Plus, the famous tonkatsu restaurant is just around the corner, which was a big highlight of my stay. If you’re a fan of this iconic Japanese dish, you’ll love how close it is!
One of the best features of this hotel is the parking. It’s easy to access and very convenient, especially in a busy city like Kumamoto where parking can be a hassle. The hotel itself is super modern and well-maintained, with sleek, contemporary design and all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and professional, ensuring a smooth check-in and offering helpful tips about the area. Whether you’re in town for business or leisure, this hotel’s location and convenience make it an excellent choice. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Kumamoto!
AAnonymous UserThe hotel is near the shopping streets.It's convenience for us to buy everything, includes the souvenirs and daily use.The grilling meat shops are covered all the street.Over 3 parking lots are nearby the hotel as well.Furthermore, many delicious Japanese food shops for choosing.The hotel also provides free water spa and sauna on the top floor which runs near 20hrs daily.The 3-persons bedrooms are clean and large, it has enough space for family to take a nap.Come again next time.
SsmilinglilwenThe Triple Room was too small to accommodate 3 adults. Insufficient space to place 2 big luggages in the room and even harder to open the luggage.
The receptionists were not so friendly however the amenities are more than enough with self-service at the Lobby. All kind of FOC hot and cold drinks are available at the common space canteen too. Location-wise is good as all the restaurants and Pharmacies are just walking distance away.
SSimYenHotel just off the A line tram stop, at end of Shimatori shopping street. Nearby Sakura Machi, a 10 mins walk to Kumamoto Castle. Hotel is new and clean, there is laundry facilities and locker facilities to leave your luggage.
TTraveller CI stayed at this hotel twice. The second time (this booking) we had a room on the older (?) wing and it was almost twice the size of the first one. So for this review I will only share feedback on this “older” room.
This room was big and thus good for us as we had 2 large luggage and more space in the room allowed us to open and pack our luggages with ease.
The bathroom was large with the large traditional bathtub. Toilet had bidet and etc but lacked heating which made it very cold in the winter. Basin tap was still the old turn types which was not eco friendly as it’s more difficult to shut it off.
Location was just opposite the train station which was excellent. But the nearest convenience store is also only at the train station which is about a 5-7mins walk away.
Breakfast was curated to suit the Japanese palette more and ends at 9a.m which is really way too early!!
We left something behind in the hotel but they managed to send the item back to us at our new hotel (still in Japan) which was highly appreciated.
Despite a few minor shortcomings listed above, the pros still outweigh the cons and I’ll definitely be happy to stay here again.
SStephanie_LCheck-in was not smooth. First, the staff said they couldn't find our reservation record, and then they said they had found it. When we had helped the children to take a shower in the room, the staff knocked on the door with another guest and said they gave us the wrong room, so We packed our luggage, went to the lobby to go through the formalities, and then went to the correct room. It took a while... Other aspects were actually good, with complete facilities, a powerful air dryer, and a washing machine.
GGuest UserThe soundproofing is not good. Although everyone has a separate cubicle, there is no separate locker area, so the noise of people taking things is very loud. The front desk staff does not speak English very well. When I checked in on the second night, the front desk staff told me that someone who claimed to be my friend took my room key, which was quite scary. Later I found out that this person was the resident next door, but I didn't know her at all.
GGuest UserI honestly do not know where to start, I booked the hotel without really knowing much about Kumamoto Prefecture. After arriving in Kumamoto City and then realising Ueki Onsen is another 40 minute bus ride I was thinking oh dear where am I staying. After arriving at the hotel I was greeted by the manager of the hotel who showed me to my room and gave me a tour of the facilities. Once settled in I realised there isn't great public transport around and I primarily wanted to see Beppu and Yufuin during my stay, I enquired with the manager on where I might be able to rent a car, with little to no Japanese language under my belt he took it upon himself to reserve a vehicle for me and offered to drive me himself to collect it. He then also said he would take me back to return it a few days later. After my trips to Beppu and Yufui village (Not to be missed) and not to miss the outstanding and beautiful surroundings in Uekimachi and the Aso region. The manager and I set off to return my hire car, on the way back he took me to Kikuchi shrine to pray and also gifted me coffee and cake. They also accommodated me with use of the on site onsen (amazing) after hours as I'm heavily tattooed. I feel truly grateful to have found this hidden gem of rural Japan and if you are thinking of traveling this great country I emplore you to go off the beaten path. I experienced untold kindness during my stay and have memories of a life time. Thank you so much guys
