The ambiance is truly breathtaking, you could easily lose track of time watching the sunset over the beach. The rooms are beautifully designed with a mosaic touch, and the inclusion of two showers in the bathroom adds a unique and romantic detail that couples will love. The staff are exceptional, always warm, smiling, and attentive, making you feel genuinely cared for throughout your stay. The dining experience is equally impressive, with each day offering a variety of meals in different settings, creating fresh and vibrant atmospheres that elevate every moment.

Very easy to relax and unwind here. Minimal hassle on a quiet, beautiful beach. Very quiet in the room. Gorgeous sunsets. All the facilities were impeccable. Pool is very clean and a great swimming option when it’s low tide. Beach was very swimmable during medium-high tide and lovely to walk on during low tide. Less windy than other east coast beaches and not many beach boys bothering you like in the busier beaches. Half board is good value with several nearby restaurants for variety of lunch options, including The Rock (10 minute drive) for a splurge. Kayaking out to the mangroves is a must (and it’s free). Sunset cruise was a very nice activity, booked easily from hotel. Our 3yo was very happy here. Above all the staff are kind friendly folk. Thank you Shirley and all the amazing staff for a truly amazing week. So sad to go, but will be back for sure.

We recently stayed at Michamvi Sunset Bay Resort and overall had a relaxing and peaceful experience, though a few areas left room for improvement. Positives: The resort is impeccably clean and set in a quiet, tranquil location, making it ideal for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle. The lush green and well-maintained landscaping add to the charm, creating a peaceful and picturesque environment throughout the property. It has direct access to a pristine, almost private beach. The calm waters and stunning sunsets create a postcard-perfect setting. The availability of free kayaks and paddle boards was a great bonus, allowing for some light adventure without any additional cost. Negatives: The biggest letdown for us during our stay was the food. We had opted for the half board plan, but both breakfast and dinner failed to impress. While the breakfast menu covered the basics.. the Dinners had fancy descriptions but were often poorly executed in terms of flavour and preparation excepting a few dishes. Also, despite the resort’s website marketing that dinners would be served in different locations with live entertainment, this wasn’t the case during our three-night stay — all dinners were served in the same dining area each evening, which took away from the promised variety and experience. Another surprise was the absence of shrimp or lobster on the menu — neither was it served nor available to order, which was disappointing for a beachfront property in Zanzibar. Final Thoughts: Michamvi Sunset Bay Resort truly shines when it comes to natural beauty, cleanliness, and peaceful surroundings, making it a great choice for relaxation and beach lovers. However, for those who place a premium on culinary experience and in-room comfort, there are some noticeable shortcomings. With improvements to the dining quality and in-room amenities, the resort has the potential to become an exceptional destination.

We spent the last part of our vacation at Michamvi Sunset Bay Resort and loved every second of it. As soon we entered the gate, we were welcomed by the sweetest reception staff. The hotel is located just by the beach which meant a beautiful sunset every single evening. It’s a small resort with not a lot of rooms but it makes it even more enjoyable. After a few days, we felt like a part of a family. The menu is changed everyday which makes the food even more interesting and delicious. The staff is awesome, some of the sweetest people we met during our vacation. The management is visible and take such good care of their guests. The atmosphere is very relaxed, very pole-pole which is perfect for a vacation. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. We would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Zanzibar and send our best wishes to the fantastic team there.
