Single room was in one word: HORRIBLE. Nobody put heating on, just like in a fridge. Avoid if you can. They gave me double room which was better. I wanted to place a complaint and they told me to send an email to manager. Manager? Who didn't even want to come down! Very very bad experience for a beginning. Let's hope food will be better ....

We visited Fugl Fønix Hotel for an early dinner in the cafe/bar. The service was excellent. The food was tasty, with high quality of vegetables and potatoes, while the meat was slightly less perfect (a little difficult to chew). We would like to come back.

An enjoyable experience, the renovation and decoration is awesome, the rooms are clean, and the staff is friendly. I have been to many small hotels in Norwegian villages, that could learn a thing or two from Fugl Fønix, when it comes to both renovation and friendliness. The one meal I had at the restaurant, was tasty and good value, and the craft beer was very good (but quite expensive, as craft beer is in Norway). Small, but high quality breakfast, with locally produced cheese. The only problem I had, was that I could not keep my balcony door open, because people were smoking at the balcony next door, and the smoke got into my room.
