Hotel Okura Kyoto

The long-standing Okura Hotel, as expected, is simply wonderful. From its excellent location (directly connected to the subway) to the check-in service and the breakfast buffet, everything was perfect. For breakfast, you can choose between Western or Japanese options. We opted for Western and were captivated by the stunning views of Higashiyama from the restaurant window.

Right across from the subway exit, there's a direct entrance to the hotel, which is super convenient. It's about a fifteen-minute walk to Takashimaya. Breakfast was also great!

The view is good, but everything else is pretty average. The check-out time is early, and the service is quite ordinary. The hotel is old but lacks the super high-end service and grandeur you'd expect from a heritage hotel. The breakfast is terrible – limited variety, poor quality, and bad taste. The bakery and coffee also look very plain, not at all like what you'd find in a high-end hotel. If you find the location convenient, it's fine for just one night's sleep, but definitely skip the breakfast.

The location is fantastic, with a subway station right downstairs. The service was great, and the room was very clean. Although it's an older hotel, it's very well-maintained. The view of Dongshan from the window is truly beautiful.

This hotel is located in the heart of Kyoto's main business district. The rooms on the Higashiyama side offer a direct view of the Kamo River and the eastern mountains, making for an excellent location. The hygiene is impeccable, and the service is very attentive. What's particularly noteworthy is how surprisingly good value the breakfast is. For 3800 yen per person if purchased separately, the buffet offers a rich variety of delicious food. For those of us who often feel a lack of vegetables when eating Japanese cuisine, the unlimited salad bar here is an absolute delight. Several types of small fish and the tofu soup were also unexpectedly delicious. I would definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Kyoto.

Excellent location with great service! While the hotel is a bit older, the cleanliness and room service are top-notch. It's also super convenient with several restaurants and cafes right inside the hotel.

The room was great and comfortable, but the service was practically non-existent. The luggage storage staff had a strange attitude... I can't really recommend it, won't be staying again, and they gave me a low-floor room.

Traveling to Kyoto with my family, choosing to stay here was definitely the right decision. The hotel offers a shuttle service to and from Kyoto Station, which is incredibly convenient. The buffet breakfast is on the 17th floor, offering lovely views of Higashiyama and the Kamo River. The breakfast spread is quite extensive and the quality is good.
