"Our stay at Alda Alborán Rooms was overall enjoyable. The location is truly exceptional, right in the heart of the city, with everything within walking distance. There are countless dining options nearby, making it a food lover's paradise; and in Galicia the food is amazing. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was fine, and accessing the apartment was straightforward with helpful reception staff available until 9 pm. The breakfast was pleasant, and the option to arrange nearby parking (a 5-minute walk, extra cost) was very convenient, especially since driving in the city center isn’t allowed (please be careful with GPS in Coruña). However, there were some drawbacks. Noise coming from the upper floor was quite disruptive and went on until late at night (around midnight). Additionally, one morning there was an energy supply issue, leaving the breakfast room without lights or anything hot, including coffee(!), a small hiccup that hopefully was an one-time occurrence. Lastly, we noticed a visible crack on the wall in our room, which initially concerned us, but we trusted that proper inspections and regulations are in place. Despite these issues, the fantastic location and overall amenities made our stay enjoyable. With some improvements in soundproofing and better handling of unexpected situations, this place could be even better!"

"Beautiful hotel. Great rooms, location was close to the main beach and close to everything else as well. The best shower I've ever taken. They had a gym, which was small but better than nothing. Staff was excellent and courteous."

"Parking and getting to the hotel from the parking (when you eventually find it) is a huge downside to staying here. You cannot drive to the hotel to drop off luggage. If you arrive other than by car it would be fine as the location is central and the restaurant OK (but not great). I'm not a fan of ordering a meal from a tablet but at least it showed the many unavailable choices."

"A clean, functional hotel that does the basics well, but feels more suited to a business trip or simple overnight stay than somewhere memorable. The location is convenient, but there’s little in the way of luxury or personality. 💰 P – Price: 🥒 Full Pickle We paid around €300/night because rates were heavily inflated by the solar eclipse, so it wouldn’t be fair to score value on that. At around €100/night, which feels more representative of the hotel, we’d say it offers decent value. ✅ Decent value at a normal rate ❌ Event pricing was extremely inflated 🏨 I – Infrastructure & Integrity: 🥒 Full Pickle Very clean, everything worked and the building felt secure. Double glazing reduced street noise well and blackout blinds were effective. Hot water was consistent and the shower didn’t flood. The AC was weak, though, and the rain shower had disappointing pressure. There was also a slight smell when we first entered. ✅ Clean, secure, effective glazing & blackout blinds ❌ Weak AC, shower pressure & initial smell 🛏️ C – Comfort & Practicality: 👌 Half Pickle Comfortable bed, decent pillows and a surprisingly spacious room. There was a full-length mirror, safe, tissues, tea/coffee, kettle and plenty of hanging space. Reception provided an ironing board when requested. Less impressive: extremely cheap single-ply toilet paper, no toilet brush, bathroom extractor or room service. The bathroom mirror didn’t fog and there was a magnifying mirror, although lighting wasn’t great for makeup. The TV was hilariously tiny for the room — basically a computer monitor mounted a long way from the bed. ✅ Comfortable, spacious & practical ❌ Cheap toilet paper, tiny TV & several missing basics 😊 K – Kindness: 👌 Half Pickle Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. They provided anything we requested, but service felt functional rather than personal, with no memorable extra-mile moments. ✅ Friendly & helpful ❌ Little “love factor” or personal touches ✨ L – Luxury & Little Touches: ❌ No Pickle This isn’t a luxury hotel. No robes, slippers, complimentary water, minibar treats or welcome gifts. Toiletries were basic, with some items available from reception on request. The towels were genuinely excellent, though, and there was a magnifying mirror and rain shower — albeit with weak pressure. ✅ Excellent towels & a few useful touches ❌ Almost no complimentary extras 🌍 E – Experience: ❌ No Pickle The location is the highlight: walking distance to the beach, Old Town and shopping. Parking next door was convenient at around €16/night, although stopping outside to unload/check in was awkward. Our first-floor “room with a view” overlooked traffic and a car park — not exactly our definition of a view! There was also no pool, rooftop bar, spa or gym that we found, and the immediate street lacked atmosphere. Overall, it’s clean, straightforward and perfectly adequate if you simply need somewhere to sleep, but there’s little to make you excited about staying here. ✅ Great location & no major issues ❌ Basic atmosphere, facilities & disappointing “view” 🥒 FINAL PICKLE SCORE: 3/6 🥒🥒🥒 How PICKLE works: We score hotels across Price, Infrastructure, Comfort, Kindness, Luxury and Experience using individual Pass/Fail criteria. 80%+ earns a Full Pickle 🥒, 50–79% a Half Pickle 👌 and below 50% No Pickle ❌. Pensión Las Rías

"Cheap and well-located pension. The check-in process was somewhat tedious as there is not normally anyone present. I needed to call and wait (maybe 15 minutes?) for someone to come and give me the key. Beyond that, the room and facilities are very dated but everything was mostly clean and functional. There is a microwave and refrigerator in the check-in area. The refrigerator/freezer is in need of a good cleaning as it smalls really bad and the freezer is full of frost/ice. Hairdryers are available but you need to ask for one. The workers are all very, very nice which made ip for those inconvenient things."
