Very soft bed. Sags in middle. Door locked during day. But food in restaurant was better than average except the order was wrong.

Not a good start. Ordered Merlot.Waiter returning " sorry we are out of Merlot" Ordered the starters. Only one was served . Ordered the main course " sorry we are out of chicken " Restaurant was empty.. Main course was served " is there anything else that I can get you? " well a knife and fork would be good.... To be fair the main course was plentiful, but if my curry was indeed a Welsh medium, dragon inspired with leeks and herbs homemade curry then I am from mars. It tasted remarkably similar to a supermarket own brand curry sauce, the thing you make midweek when you haven't got time to cook. I would give this one star if not for the entertainment of people not being given the room that they had booked, a neighbouring table being told they were out of lemonade, and another table trying to order Lasagne, but surprisingly they were fresh out of it..

After going to the Lampeter food fest myself and friend called into the Black Lion for food. The lunchtime menu is quite limited. We chose a brie, bacon and cranberry wrap. It came with a side Asia slaw and some crisps. Our plates arrived and I couldn’t believe they actually served a flat like a pancake wrap. I pulled back the outer edge of the wrap and there were two very thin slices of Brie with two bits of bacon on the top and cranberry juice slopping underneath. The cost for this was £9.50. The waiting staff were good but must have known not to ask how was your meal or is everything alright. If it wasn’t for the fact that I have a mobility issue and needed to sit I would have left the plate there and make a hasty retreat. Just hope their evening menu and food is better.

Very nice service from the waitress, the menu was fine although lots not available -it was a slow mid week night to be fair. I'd certainly go back as the prices were reasonable and seemed like a good choice for dinner.

Firstly the waitressing staff were very good and it’s a shame they will be negatively reflected in this rating, however there is absolutely no way this place could be rated higher than a single star. This was hands down some of the worst food I have ever eaten in a pub setting in my life. The starter was disgusting, tiny and hardly edible. The curry main course on the menu was described as being homemade with vegetables, what came on the plate was a tiny slop of plain curry from a jar with rock hard chicken and cold stodgy rice. And the prices?! Overpriced does not even come close. The proprietors should be ashamed of themselves charging for that. Do not waste your money.

Room awful, dirty, bathroom disgusting, very confined, dead flies, despite paying in full we decided to not stay the night,

I met a group of friends for an informal dinner at The Black Lion. It is a place that we have visited many, many times over the years. We were a little curious to see what the service would be like because we had learned that there was new management. However, we were all very happy with our meals and the service was excellent. The waitresses and waiter were all lovely. The meals were served in a timely manner and in a very professional way. One waitress was particularly helpful. Her name was Casey. She went out of her way to make sure that we were all happy. Bravo The Black Lion xxx

The public areas are excellent. Nice bar area and a great restaurant. The food (breakfast and dinner) was great and the waiting staff were friendly and efficient. The room we had was tiny and cold. Miniscule bathroom with a pitiful shower. Shabby, run down and very unattractive. Curtains hanging on by a thread. Such a shame that the accommodation didnt match the quality of the rest of the place.
