Our temple served as the imperial seat for Emperor Goshirakawa! The main temple building was constructed during the Edo period!

Loved the vibe of this place. It felt very traditional and was a super unique experience. The included dinner and breakfast were alright, not quite my speed but I enjoyed it for the most part. The morning ceremony at 6:45am was cool, and we were given a quick tour and history lesson after. The room was warm and clean, even after it snowed quite a bit overnight. The bath was great too. I’d definitely stay here again.
Please note that this is not a Wakayama Refresh Plan participating facility! !

The location is very close to Okunoin Cemetery, so you could take an evening walk and easily return before the doors close at 9 PM. It felt safe and convenient, and the atmosphere in the evening was beautiful. The bus runs frequently, so getting to the station the next day was no problem at all.
The temple offers a Goma (fire) ritual in the afternoon, and one prayer stick is included. The morning meditation was also a wonderful experience, very impressive.
The staff were genuinely positive, friendly and helpful. Some of them speak very good English, they explain everything clearly, and they let me leave my luggage when I arrived early.
I highly recommend this place, but a few practical things worth mentioning:
– The stairs to the guest rooms are very steep, and the temple slippers are slippery. If you have trouble with stairs or simply want to avoid the risk, I recommend asking for a room on the first floor.
– I visited in early December, and it was really (really!) cold as the corridors are unheated. You absolutely need very warm socks for meditation and the fire ritual. I was completely frozen.
– My room took a long time to warm up, but the kotatsu made a huge difference once it heated up, and there was also a gas heater + a tea set with hot water.
– Having a sink in the room was a very convenient bonus, but the water in mine was cold though. In the bathroom hot water is available.
A temple lodge with the only natural hot spring in Koyasan and a garden designed by Mirei Shigemori.

I honestly can't recommend this place more than enough.
From friendly staff, nice amenities, really great views, and a sauna and an onsen. I can't recommend this place more than enough. 10 stars.

The temple is really beautiful with stunning paintings in the dining room. There is a morning worship service you can join in which starts at 6am, but you can join any time as well as leave the service. Food is really delicious, I didn’t expect much from vegetarian dishes, but they were great. The amount of food is pretty decent, I didn’t feel hungry by the morning even tho I had dinner at 5pm. I traveled alone but I believe this room is specious enough for a couple. The convent location of the temple allows to walk to the main tramples and tourist office (where I got the night tour to the cemetery booked) as well as to the Eko-in temple from where that tour sets off.

The accommodation and the temple are not in the same building and are 20 meters apart. The temple is very quiet, beautiful and simple. The room was very spacious and traditional. The bathroom had a japanese bath which we appreciated very much. The monks were very welcoming and nice, they explained everything.
We also attended the morning prayer at 7 am. Overall it was a great experience.
The dinner and breakfast were delicious.

The staff at the accommodation were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The English-speaking staff guided us around the facilities and thoroughly explained the rules. Despite the curfew at 9 PM, we were allowed to return later using an alternate door. Dinner was superb and delicious, with a variety of vegan dishes offered. It's a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate.

Amazing
FFaucheleventEverything was perfect, from the kind monk who showed us the temple (he wasn't part of it) to the morning religious service. The welcome could not have been more friendly, the room comfortable, the view superb, and the meals delicious.
AAnonymous UserFriendly in English. Most foreigners stay. The room with bathroom and toilet is impeccable. The hotel recommends Japanese massages very unusual. The breakfast and dinner portion is suitable for ordinary girls. Morning and evening meditation has no English/Japanese background to feel the environment. It takes a little 15 minutes to walk from the main street. The hotel has a paid luggage service, which is convenient for people who need to walk to the next stop.
GGuest UserThe room is quite good, the environment in the courtyard is elegant, I originally wanted to book Fuzhiyuan, because there is no room ➕ Due to the bus change route, it is far away in the past, so I decisively chose Changxiyuan. Going out and turning left is the Tanjialan. Crossing the road is the King Kong Peak Temple. The parking lot and bus stop are across the road. Later, we went to Wakayama and didn't go to the electric rail again, but took the Nanhai bus directly to Wakayama Yacht City (Kuroshio Market). It was very convenient. It is strongly recommended to live here.
GGuest UserThis temple stay is amazing. Vegetarian breakfast and dinner was great. The morning prayer and fire ritual was great to take part in. They also offered an afternoon mediation tutorial. There was a night tour for the cemetery, however I did not take part. It was a little concerning that the English tour was ¥1000 yen more than the Japanese tour. Overall I highly recommend this place.
GGuest UserA short walk from Ekoin, very hospitable and friendly service. Room is big and clean with heater provided. Public bath is big but there’s only one so have to reserve slot. They have fire goma ritual everyday for guests and also sutra writing for free provided. Very recommended temple stay!
JJIANGVery good, not far from the Jingangfeng Temple, dinner and breakfast for the vegetarian meal is also very delicious, half an hour of early classes, a lot of foreigners. It is important to note that dinner, morning classes and breakfast are subject to time. It must be said that the travel experience of Koyasan exceeded expectations.

When summer arrives, there’s nothing like a family trip to Kōyasan Station in Koya to make the most of sunny days. Fukuchi-IN (from NZD 359) is a popular hotel with a pool, great for cooling down after a fun day out.
