Melati Tanjong Beach Resort

The hotel has a great location right on the beach. It's renovated on the outside, but the interior needs some work. The view from the balcony is amazing.

The room itself is a bit worn out, but the sea view from the balcony definitely makes up for any shortcomings. In the hallway, there's an iron, an ironing board, and a water cooler with both hot and cold water. Room cleaning is by request – you need to inform the front desk by 4 PM the day before if you'd like your room cleaned. On weekends, local residents check in, drink beer, and get noisy, and unfortunately, no one seems to tell them to quiet down.

Very strategic location.. the beach view is great.. everything is nearby.

Let me start by saying that I'm not picky about old decor, but there's one rule that always matters: CLEANLINESS! We booked this hotel based on reviews praising the balcony view, and the view truly IS GORGEOUS! However, the room they gave us was awful! It was on the first floor with a sea view, but it was filthy! The floors were covered in black hair, dirty, the bedding was yellow, the towels were yellow, there were spiders hanging from the ceilings and walls, ants scurrying across the floor, cockroaches crawling out of the shower drain in the bathroom, the water heater for hot water wasn't working, the toilet wouldn't flush, the sink smelled like death, the faucet wobbled as if it would fall off if you turned it on, the outlet by the bed was broken, as was the nightstand. The fridge was dirty and smelly, and the chairs on the balcony couldn't have been dirtier. I went to demand a room change, even though I was a bit sad to leave the first-floor room, but living in filth is not okay! Thankfully, we only stayed one night, then flew to Koh Lipe. We'll be back in Langkawi, but definitely not at Melasti Tanjong – 1,000,000% not! They sent an Indian guy to the old room, and he sprayed it with cockroach killer. I went to yell at them, asking if they were crazy and if I was supposed to breathe that in? In the end, they moved us to a clean, TIDY room on the second floor. I don't recommend this hotel. Old furniture is one thing, but if you get this particular room? Then run, change it as fast as you can!!!!

The sea view is gorgeous. However, the hotel is a bit dirty, including the bedding. But for the price, it was acceptable to me.

Room: The room is a bit old. There's a TV, but you have to connect to Wi-Fi. The hotel doesn't offer free Wi-Fi, and the internet signal isn't strong inside the room. Location: Superb, right in front of Chenang Beach, facing the sea. Open the door and you see the ocean immediately. Highly recommended. Price: Affordable. Parking: There's free parking available next to the hotel. Conclusion: For those who want a hotel room close to the sea and facing the ocean, you can book this hotel with a sea view. It's definitely worth it. Even though the room is just so-so, not super clean, and the toilet is also just average, and the TV isn't functional, we overlooked these imperfections because our main goal was a room right by the beach facing the sea. If given the choice to book here again, the answer is yes, I would repeat the booking if the price is cheap and good value at the time of booking. This is because the location is great, right by the sea, making it easy for kids to play on the beach.
