Ionian Blue Bungalows and Spa Resort

Vasiliki, Dimitri and team along with the whole ambience of the resort makes the ionion blue a must visit when in Lefkada , my family always return here it’s like coming home . Definitely worth staying !!!The breakfast buffet is one of the best I’ve seen in Greece with a dining area overlooking the blue waters of the ionion , it really does help to leave your stress behind.

The air condition doesn’t work in many of the rooms. After complaining several times to the manager wefinally got a room with descent a/c. But the hotel manager was not service minded and talked about getting their technician to solve the problem. But when we talked to another member of the staff it was revealed that the a/c didn’t work on several levels of the hotel. So it’s kind of a scam by trying to pursuade the guests that the a/c will be fixed, but in reality they are aware that the a/c system it broken. Also the entrance level of the hotel and dinner + breakfast area had no a/c and the doors were wide open to trying to get some air into the building. Until they perform some major investments I would not recommend anybody to stay here. To be fair, on the plus side are the amazing views and the new built tree decks by the ocean are really nice. So there’s defenately potential.

We arrived and all seemed ok. Then heading down to our room you notice the whole resort is suffering from age and a lack of maintenance. The gardens are all dry and overgrown with weeks, the lifts shudder, the timber is rotting and paint work is all neglected. The sea views from the infinity edge pool are now precluded by large trees and an ugly metal safety fence. The pool area attendants had packed up almost 3 hours before sunset meaning there were no towels available. To top it off, dinner at the A La Carte restaurant started well, until I found that my chicken dish was totally raw on the inside. (I’m still waiting to see if that comes back to haunt me). In the rooms, the air conditioning doesn’t work, very basic soap and shampoo toiletries are provided. My recommendation is find a newer resort. This one is not worth the drive.

Went with my family in ending Oct 2022. Got a great deal, and I was so excited. Then I read the reviews. Most of them were dreadful. So I went in expecting the worst. But I was pleasantly surprised. I reached in the evening and it was dark. We we quickly checked in by the pleasant gentleman at reception and shown our room which was good size and clean with comfortable beds and a balcony. Could not appreciate the location and the excellent sea views. But when we woke up in the morning, the views and the location was brilliant. I had hired a car from Ionion car rental which was excellent. Highly recommended. The rooms are arranged on different floors with reception on the top floor with lots of stairs and lifts. Our room was on 5th floor. The hotel is in an isolated location which we knew beforehand. There is an outdoor I finity pool which was too cold to be used although there were some people sitting in the sun but nobody dared to go in. There is a small indoor pool which is also not heated but we used it everyday. There is a small gym by its side which we used as well. We went on a half board basis. The restaurant is good in size and location but the food choice is quite limited especially for vegetarians and food runs out pretty quickly most days. You have to ask the waiters to refill it. There were selection of salads, 2 meat dishes and one veg dish which were mostly the same every night. Breakfast was OK with eggs, cold meats, and cheese n pancakes n breads n cereals n nuts. We used it as a base and saw some lovely beaches. Lefkda is so so beautiful. But overall, I would say, we had a great time and would happily return to this place.

This resort is amazing! Staff and customer service are excellent. Food an hospitality are five stars!

We stayed here 2 years ago. This was probably a great hotel 20 YEARS AGO. It has all the makings to be great again BUT someone has to put the money back into it. Elevators are old and dirty. The views once you get to your room are out of this world. Spend the money and make it nice again. This could be a 5 star hotel

Our room was downgraded because the original booked room was smelling sewage (really bad that my wife got an allergic reaction). The reception neglected to make any compensation for the downgraded room to two twin beds instead of the original booked king size bed. Few minors were like missing hot water (only warm water locked to specific safe temperature at the shower) and super loud music from a wedding event outside the rooms.

In one word DISGUSTING. We had to change rooms three times before we got one that was actually fit for human habitation. First room No. 303 had a mattress which had significant faeces and urine stains. Second room No. 220 stunk of raw sewage and had mould and termite damage in the bathroom. Third room No. 103 had air con that was set at 26 deg Celsius and way too hot. Overall the place is very dated with useless aircon, crappy lifts that don’t work most of the time and very arrogant and unhelpful management / reception staff. The other cleaning and service staff were excellent and they too could see and smell everything I have stated in this review. I would never go back and strongly recommend that you look elsewhere. In an attempt for them to mask / fix the sewage smell, they sprayed some unknown substance in the ducts which resulted in me being unwell for two days and confined to the room. When this was brought to the managers attention he was basically dismissive and would not provide details of the substance used. I even requested an incident report which is unheard of to them and still not received.
