This place is a 10/10 on all fronts- amenities, location, service and experience. From the moment I arrived, this hotel exceeded my expectations. They were quick to come pick me up at the drop off point of the Ancient Town (just a few mins away from the hotel) and helped bring my luggage in. The room is really nice. The attention to detail was impressive and they had everything I needed for a comfortable and luxurious stay. What truly set this place apart was the boss Hwee Ling and the incredible staff. When my 4d3n hiking tour was canceled last minute, they went above and beyond to help me arrange an alternative and make sure I had everything I needed for the trek. Their willingness to assist and the way they took care of me made me feel like a valued friend rather than just a guest. Most impressively, I felt this same level of friendliness with everyone I met in the hotel. I really wanted to extend my stay to experience all the hotel’s activities and also their wine but they were regrettably already fully booked. I’ll definitely be back another time to enjoy all that they have to offer.

Staying here is akin to basking in warm sunshine in the cold winter. From the moment we stepped into the grounds, the warm welcome and sincerity of staff members such as May, Daisy, Dada and Qing are keenly felt. The close proximity of the clean and well-maintained Bivou to quaint shops and flowing streams and ponds allowed us to maximise our time where we enjoyed tasty and unique Yunnan cuisine, culture and places of scenic beauty. The well-designed Bivou included an organic herb and vegetable grounds and the engaging in-house tours and activities such as nature journalling are very educational. The hotel and its practices are an eco-haven and it is wonderful to be surrounded by luscious sprawling nature. The food at Bivou cafe is wholesome and served with much dedication and care. We enjoyed our stay and the company of “Heimi”cat, “Corny” sheep, a goat and dogs that visited us. We will recommend The Bivou as our preferred hotel in Shuhe, Lijiang.

Really appreciated the calm and beauty of the well designed boutique hotel. Friendly and attentive staff made us feel at home. It is worth making the way to this hotel, far from the madding crowd in Dayan Ancient town.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. Beautiful, clean, close to everything we wanted to see, delicious food, reasonable prices, very kind staff, gorgeous terrasse surrounded by gardens… couldn’t have asked for more. Just amazing!

Excellent location in Old Lijiang. Could be more helpful when I was trying to book transportation to Tiger Leaping Gorge.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Bivou. It feels like a home away from home. I loved that it's tucked in a quieter corner of the ancient city. It's peaceful and tranquil and overlooks a vegetable garden where they get their vegetables from. Upon stepping into Bivou you're welcome with a cup of warm fruit tea and freshly baked cakes, you can't help but feel the warmth of the staff and place. I highly recommend the food in their restaurant/cafe as well, they are made with the freshest ingredients and also of the highest hygiene . They also have delicious Yunnan wines if you're keen to try some. The rooms are very comfortable and impeccably designed. I love the thoughtful touches they've included like a handmade lip balm, hand drawn walking maps of the surrounding villages, photo book of Lijiang, etc. Additionally, Hwee Ling, the owner of the hotel and her staff, are readily available if you need any advise or help with trip planning. I appreciate their insider's tip on places to visit in the area. I can't wait to return again to Bivou when i'm back in Lijiang.

The location is great, 5-10 mins walk from north gate of 束河古镇. Service is Wonderful and staff make you feel at home. The top rated Huya coffee is nearby,.and also the 九鼎龙潭water catchment area. 闹中取静 stay for a quick stop at 丽江. Had a wonderful time and.experience Mooncake making lesson organized by the hotel during Mid Autumn Festival stay. The dining hall is overlooking a small farm of herbs and vegetables. I would recommend staying here if you are coming to LiJiang, SuHe GuZhen 束河古镇. P/S: They offer free baggage service from the entrance(picture).

First impressions upon stepping into the hotel - like a little piece of home away from home. The warm hospitality, the cosy atmosphere all contributes to this sense of comfort. There is no reception, you come in and sit at a long table where they offer you fruits, drinks and cake, much like entering into a home of a friend rather than a hotel. We love the rooms, which were bright, modern and clean. There is clever placement of multiple charging points next to the beds on both sides, which really feels intuitive. Love the heated bathroom floors and generous space as well. Plus point: They also serve excellent wines which you have to try. Our stay was too short and I definitely look forward to coming back again!

Outstanding hotel! Perfect location within the Old City close to entrance gate to the Old City. Comfortable accommodation and lovely and varied breakfast. Staff friendly, polite and helpful. Option to dine at the hotel with both Chinese and Western food available. Tasty and reasonably priced. Also Happy Hour available daily with reductions in costs for wine, beer and cocktails. Would thoroughly recommend.

Bivou is a gem in Yunnan. The service staff are extremely helpful and go the extra mile to make you feel like you’re at home. I was assigned a room surrounded by greenery, and the feeling when you look out the windows was amazing especially when it rains. They maintain the space very well and there were no bugs in the room despite all the plants outside. They have in house activities if you wish to have a rest day from the touristy stuff. Food was delicious too - I think they use the produce that they plant themselves so it’s very fresh. South East Asians would be glad to know there’s kaya and milo available for breakfast! I couldn’t catch everyone’s names but big shout out to all the hardworking staff there including Xuexue, May and Layla for making my stay so lovely.

We stayed at Bivou for 3 nights. May and Hwee Ling did a superb job hosting us and our needs were all well considered and taken care of. We felt really welcomed during our stay at Bivou. Shuttle service from the train station to Bivou was kindly arranged for us. Breakfast provided has a great variety and the food offered by Bivou was delicious too. Strongly recommend!

The Bivou is located in the old town of Shuhe which is less busy compared to the Lijiang Old Town. The service was great at the hotel. We particularly enjoyed the traditional breakfast. We would definitely stay again!

One of the best stays I had in China ~ Facilities were cosy and very clean; the staff were also extremely welcoming, very accommodating and eager to provide guidance on exploring Lijiang (I do really want to highlight that Bivou has a huge list of self organised tours and various workshops, making it a one stop place for your Lijiang travels!). As a big plus, the onsite bivou cafe also provided a decent mix of very tasty local / international food. Not forgetting to mention that it is located at the heart of Shuhe Ancient Town, making it a very convenient spot for you to travel around to various local attractions and enjoy local delicacies.
