"The room was decent, and the owner even picked us up from the shuttle stop and shared some helpful tips on the way to the B&B. The cleanliness was okay, but there were some small black spots on the bed – I'm not sure if it was dust or something that just couldn't be washed off. They seemed to have anticipated that the wooden house might have poor sound insulation, as earplugs were provided. The bathroom also had disposable toilet seat covers, though a few small bugs managed to fly into the room. They had also pre-cooled the room with the air conditioning for us. Breakfast was simple yet plentiful. We were quite rushed to get to the high-speed train station (even though we had allocated 80 minutes before departure). Coincidentally, the owner was out picking up other guests for the B&B, so the owner's wife kindly gave us a ride to the shuttle stop on her electric scooter, which was great. However, the owner's wife mentioned that if we were in a hurry, we could ask the driver to depart earlier. But the driver still stuck to the scheduled departure time (even though there were other passengers asking if they could leave earlier, and the bus was almost full, the driver still insisted on departing at 3:40 PM, following the 20-minute interval schedule). While I understand they might have a fixed schedule, it only takes 10 minutes to reach the high-speed train station (departing at 2:42 PM and arriving at 2:52 PM). Yet, the driver claimed it would take 30 minutes (saying we'd arrive at 3:10 PM) 😐. This made us think we wouldn't make our original train, so we canceled our tickets and bought new ones for the next train (as we had already changed our tickets once that day, we could only cancel and re-purchase). These shuttle drivers do this route frequently, so they should have a pretty accurate idea of how long it takes to get there. This part was not good and quite frustrating 😣."

"Choosing this guesthouse during my trip to Zhaoxing Dong Village was definitely a great experience. The most convenient part was the free shuttle service from the high-speed rail station. The owner confirmed the time with us beforehand, and we saw her waiting as soon as we exited the station. She also helped us with our luggage the whole time and patiently explained some tips for exploring the Dong village – so thoughtful! The guesthouse was conveniently located, not far from the main street. The owner was always available by phone, and the place was quiet at night. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the bedding was great. The owner even gave us some fresh, sweet bayberries from her own orchard. There was absolutely no commercialized atmosphere; it felt like visiting relatives. This was the most comfortable stay of my trip. Great value for money, and the service was genuine. Anyone visiting Zhaoxing Dong Village can definitely check it out!"

"This guesthouse is located at the end of the village, away from the commercial hustle and bustle of the main street. The rooms are stylishly designed, retaining the traditional wooden structure of the old building while incorporating warm and inviting design elements. It has its own breakfast room with room service and a coffee shop. Opening the window reveals rice paddies, and falling asleep to the sound of frogs in the evening is a delightful surprise."

Guiyu Homestay (Zhaoxing Dong Village Scenic Area) ★★

"This B&B, renovated from a stilt house, retains its traditional charm. The tables, chairs, and bed frames are all made of solid wood. The rooms, like the entire village, are quaint, with that quaint, wooden-style feel. It was a glimpse into traditional life. The rooms aren't large, and the pictures are taken as is, without filters. What you see is what you get. Next time, I'd plan to get a larger room, one closer to the river. The B&B doesn't include shuttle service, given the price, but if you contact them in advance, they'll help arrange a carpool. We ended up taking a minibus directly from the high-speed rail station, which is not far from the scenic area, about seven or eight kilometers."
