Arun Sands Rooms

General condition was fine but sink was blocked and toilet didn't flush properly. I texted the owner afterwards (who previously has been very helpful and she didn't bother to reply), I hope they fix this as otherwise it was a good experience.

The cleanliness of the room was lacking. Carpets very stained and grubby, they may be old, but it doesn’t look like they’ve been cleaned for a long time. The room was quite chilly, I couldn’t see any heater or radiator? There was a small sofa which had a bobbled, old orange throw on it. This just added to the feeling of an old, tired, worn room, and doesn’t help it to feel clean. To be honest the room would be better with more space and less furniture and clutter. The toilet smelled of stale urine and the toilet seat was extremely stained around the inner rim, this is probably where the smell is coming from. It is long overdue a replacement. Towel rails/ doors were very dusty. The shower is appalling, the weakest I have ever used, and the shower/toilet is an internal en-suite, with no window or extractor fan. On the positive side the bed was comfortable and you can see that the owner has tried to include lots of touches, eg. Snacks, tea and coffee etc. The towels were clean and good quality. But I would have been happier with a much plainer, more basic room, which was clean and had suitable en-suite facilities. The decor of the room is not to my taste- and I have orange walls in my own bedroom! In my opinion it is dated, fussy and with far too many mismatched features. This is a matter of taste though. To be fair, it looks as though there may be some much nicer, fresher rooms at the property. Perhaps this one is the next inline for redecoration and re carpeting? You may be ok if you avoid the standard king room (the orange one). Sorry, but I felt that £100 we paid was ridiculously overpriced for the room we had and the ensuite facilities. I wouldn’t stay again and can’t recommend.

We only stayed one night so we can't give the full five stars as we basically only slept here but the owner was lovely and helpful. Our room was delightfully decorated. The only quibble was that the shower in room 7 was really weak, barely strong enough to wash one's hair.

Overall good stay. Lovely host. Room comfortable enough for 1 person but very small for anymore. Ensuite extremely small but does the job. Easy to get to from train station and near to places to eat and the beach. Downsides: Room small, Bed on small side, legs hung off the end and im only average size. Ensuite extremely small. Breakfast not available which is a shame, however this is on the website. All that being said, if travelling solo I would stay here again.
