Hotel Kriola

Doesn't really reflect the photos you see on the website. Unkempt room. Poor breakfast. Dirty pool. Very, very noisy hotel. The only good thing: the restaurant and the location. I won't be going back. I know the owners will respond by denying it, as they have done in other realistic reviews. So, above all, don't waste time and energy on this and improve your hotel so that it matches what guests book.

The choice was tuna fillets and rosemary to accompany. The sauce with the tuna was divine and the rice was earthy. What wonderful food, incredible flavor and very well prepared. A calm, cool atmosphere under the umbrella and a great sea view!

Very mixed opinion. You have to take into account that this is Sao Tome and that the standards have nothing to do with Europe. I will try to give the most accurate opinion possible. My disappointment is that the photos are absolutely not true to reality. The rooms are not maintained (plumbing, windows, etc.), but you have to understand that tools and materials are difficult to obtain on this undeveloped island. Sometimes there is no more water and the toilets do not always work. On the other hand, the rooms are clean. The pool is unusable in my opinion because it is completely opaque with crabs. The managers and all their families live in the hotel and swim there daily. The hotel is therefore quite noisy because the pool is located in the center of the rooms and the owners' children swim there from 7:30 a.m. The hotel staff is quite nice apart from the unpleasant owner (Portuguese) who spoils the atmosphere and looks down on the few tourists who are present. She doesn't even say hello or goodbye to her guests. So, we won't be returning to this hotel. The boss is great and very accommodating. Breakfast is also with the owners' family and there, you don't get the good things like them. For the guests, it's a low-quality light breakfast. 5-star rating for the restaurant and its manager. You eat there for cheap and with exceptional quality. The octopus is the best on the island ❤️. Bravo! In conclusion, for a decent hotel, move on and if it's to live an experience as close as possible to the locals but without comfort, this is the one for you. Beware of all the very positive fake reviews on this hotel.

I won't be going back. The hotel is frankly not great, far from the photos published on their website. The manager is partying with his girlfriends in the pool instead of taking care of the customers. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, but the showers are in poor condition and the taps are broken. The restaurant is okay. The breakfast is limited. It doesn't start before 8:00 a.m. and at 9:20 a.m. they've taken everything away. So no sleeping in if you want to eat. Honestly, not great. When we were leaving, we wanted to pay for our meals, and the manager who was there told us that it wasn't possible, as the manager had gone shopping. We had to wait or come back. What a mess.
