Hotel Tugu Lombok

The hotel is amazing and we spent 3 perfect days there. The food is delicious and the staff is friendly, making you feel like being home. We did the trip to Gili Island with them and it’s high recommended. The SPA is great too. 👍

We had an amazing few days at Tugu Hotel Lombok at the end of our two week holiday in Indonesia. The hotel is perfectly positioned on the northwest coast, set away from the hustle and bustle and alongside a stunning bit of beach. The hotel has such a charming and unique feel - this definitely isn’t a cookie-cutter 5* chain hotel! We loved discovering all the Indonesian artwork and sculptures throughout the hotel. There are two really, really beautiful swimming pools to enjoy - the larger one perhaps the best I have ever seen! We stayed in an incredible villa, stunningly decorated with a leaf-shaped plunge pool overlooking the beach and an outdoor bathroom and shower - it really was spectacular. There are two restaurants which were open at different times - both were excellent. The larger one is an architectural masterpiece. I treated myself to a Balinese massage on my last day - I wish I had one every day of my stay - it was soooo good! We enjoyed a fabulous half day snorkelling trip to the Gili Islands. It was pretty busy, but we still managed to see some black-top reef sharks, turtles, and lots and lots of reef fish - it was all very impressive. I just hope they can preserve the reef as it was being very well used. We also visited a nearby waterfall which was super fun. We were introduced to a local guide who firstly took us for the most interesting walk through his village - we even visited his son in class at school and we met his family at home. It was wonderful. We then went for a swim at the base of the waterfall before we enjoyed a picnic overlooking rice fields and mountains. A massive ‘thanks you’ to Adi for being such great company. He picked us up from the airport and took us on our waterfall excursion (via a local market). He was very knowledgeable and great fun and gave us a really good insight into Indonesian culture and the way of living. Finally, another shout out to the wonderful staff who really shone. We will never forget their smiles, good humour and graciousness. We were lucky enough to have Adi look after us a number of times. Hotel Tugu Lombok is one of the most characterful, charming and beautiful hotels we have ever stayed in. The memories we made there will last a lifetime - thank you!

A true 5 star hotel with exceptional service and a stunningly beautiful location! We loved the large freshwater pools surrounded by trees and flowers, the water temperature was perfect for swimming. Beach was gorgeous too, sand underfoot and the sea was also warm for swimming. Never once a shortage of sunbeds! Food in the restaurant was delicious, varied and tasty. A special mention to Dedy and his fantastic team! We stayed in the Aloon Aloon bungalows and these were charming and spacious with partly outdoor bathrooms which was fun. The hotel organises many varied trips and excursions - we thoroughly enjoyed the morning fishing, cycling tour, old city tour, snorkeling and Indonesian cooking class. There’s also a beautiful spa overlooking the sea. We enjoyed the charming bar too! Our kids had fun at the ping pong table and large grassy area with football goals. The hotel even provided a football and balls for playing with in the pool and sea. The whole place is a tropical paradise with the staff really going out of their way to help you relax and to make you feel special. It’s very peaceful and in harmony with nature. The location is quite isolated, there are very few other bars or restaurants around so that might not suit everyone. There is no evening entertainment, which again might not suit everyone. We didn’t really miss any but did think that some local culture eg dancing/weaving demo/art exhibition would have enhanced the experience even further. Overall we had a wonderful time at Tugu and if you are looking for peace and tranquillity in a stunning setting with outstanding service then look no further!

The staff are wonderful - friendly and attentive, and seem happy to make guests happy. We had a great day snorkeling off the dragon boat, and some excellent meals including a Grand Rijsttafel on top of the old temple. Massages were excellent, and we really had fun doing a palm weaving/flower arranging lesson. I’d say that this is not the best place for beach swimming, because it’s too shallow, but the pools are lovely. I found the bed comfortable and the outdoor bathroom was cool. Beachfront afternoon tea was really nice. If it hadn’t been so hot and humid, I would have taken advantage of the bikes to explore a bit more. Special shout out to the housekeeping guys who decorated our room with towel animals and flowers more than once - so cute!!
