Aptel East

London|2.54km from Crossbones Graveyard & Garden of Remembrance
We stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate my daughters 40th, we stayed on the 5th floor, we had room 30 which had a dodgy door so make sure it’s closed properly if you stay in it, the room was advertised as a city view but all we could see was the royal London hospital, my daughter had room 33 which you could see the shard from, just so your aware if your paying extra for the view it’s not really worth it, anyway to the good points of which there were many, check in was very quick and easy, you will need a £50 refundable deposit upon arrival, the reception staff were all very helpful and friendly, the room was very modern and we had plenty of space, the bed was comfy and we never heard any noise from anywhere during our stay, the rooms are a little sp**** and clinical, a few pictures on the walls would make a huge difference but didn’t in any way affect our stay, the area itself isn’t the best, lots of shops that were wholesale only, all shuttered up on a night with lots of graffiti on them, if you leave the apartments and turn right you come to the Castle pub, we went in here for a drink but the music wasn’t to our liking so left after one, if you keep to the left where the street splits at the Castle it’s like a different world, new buildings all very nice and clean, this way takes you towards the Tower Hill tube station which we used as we called into the Goodman’s field (Wetherspoons) for a breakfast to start the day, there are closer tube stations to the Aptel though, we would stay here again but it’s a little too far out for me, but don’t hesitate if your thinking of booking it, you won’t be disappointed

Good: The main thing going for this place is its location. Tbh for its price it wouldn't be worth it if it was anywhere less central and convenient than this. It is the sheer convenience of the location that makes it a passable place that I'd book again if I needed somewhere affordable this central as a solo traveller. There were also plenty of plug sockets, and late check in was possible. It seemed fairly clean in general. Less Good: The rooms are very small and cramped. The 9 bed dorms are a small room with 3 x triple bunk beds. It feels like trying to cram as many people as possible in. You cannot sit up in the bunk beds because of the space available It was very hot in the room and this was late October. I cannot imagine what it is like in the summer. People turned the lights on at 3am and there is one light switch by the door that turns ALL the lights on in the dorm. A good solution that I've seen at other hostels would be installing individual bedside stile lights in/by the bunks or running the lights on a timer so that people can't turn them on at ridiculous times. Also, the toilet seat was kind of broken.

Very good hostel location for budget travelers Within walking distance to almost everything as well as down the street from the London Bridge Train/Tube station It's on a VERY busy street so it does get very noisy - be sure to pack ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones Rooms and Bathrooms were small but clean Wifi was spotty but cant complain Will stay here again when im back

The rooms were very loud- as other reviews have mentioned. We stayed in the pods and they were clean and cool with the changing coloured lights! The beds were super hard and pillows extremely flat- but pretty standard for a hostel. They also had no clean towels for the first day we were there. The location was amazing. It wasn't the most friendly hostel and felt hard to meet people- but over all, worth the cost! Also, THEY HAVE AC!! huge bonus points for that.. and considering the incredible location and cheap cost, I'd recommend.

good location, can enjoy the night view of london and see the shard building in the open air common area. as there are many people staying in the bedroom, you can't expect the air quality to be good though

We were so surprised by this hotel considering it’s price! We were in 2 adults and 2 children and our room was sized above average for London hotels. The check in was super easy. Comfortable beds, very silent, friendly staff and goos breakfast. We are definitely staying here again!

If you're considering a visit to St Christopher Inn, London Bridge, think twice. I had an appalling experience that started off well enough—with food and drinks ordered and served. Then, out of the blue, security shows up to ask me to take off my baseball cap, offering zero explanation for this sudden demand. I tried to escalate the issue to the pub manager, but instead got another face from the security team telling me to vacate the premises. Mind-boggling, especially since it was these same individuals who welcomed me into the venue, baseball cap and all. But after two rounds of drinks and a meal, they decide to flip the script and enforce this senseless 'rule.' The proprietor needs to wake up to this ludicrous conduct displayed by the staff. Discriminating against a customer over a baseball cap in this day and age is disgraceful and entirely unacceptable. Bottom line: avoid this place like the plague. If something as trivial as wearing a cap can lead to such heavy-handed treatment, it's not worth the risk. I certainly won't be going back.
