Overall, this was a three-star stay at best, carried almost entirely by the hotel’s excellent location and convenient access to the Victoria line. The entrance makes a strong first impression, with a striking David Bowie mural, but unfortunately that’s where the positives largely end. As with most Premier Inns, you expect a basic standard — but even with a Premium Room upgrade, this property fell short. From the outset, the smell throughout the hotel was pungent and unpleasant. While the reception area itself appeared clean, the customer service did not match: requests were dealt with, but without warmth, leaving the clear impression of being an inconvenience. The staff member on duty also appeared clearly understaffed, which, while understandable, does not excuse the overall experience. After check-in, I was informed that the lift was not working for level three, where my room was located — frustrating when travelling with a large suitcase. This was compounded by the fact that only one lift was operational. I was told this was being fixed the following week but when I checked out this still hadn’t happened. On reaching level three, I was immediately hit by a strong smell of stale, damp air, which continued inside the room. With sealed windows and a non-functioning extractor fan, the lack of ventilation was obvious. The room itself showed clear signs of neglect: chipped toilet fittings, limescale buildup, a missing section of ceiling, and questionable stains on the furniture. The coffee machine appeared unused for some time and leaked when turned on. The most concerning issue, however, was the state of the bedding. After part of the duvet cover came loose, the duvet underneath showed visible discolouration, including what appeared to be dried blood and urine stains. This is completely unacceptable, deeply unhygienic, and would fail even a basic inspection. The toilet was also visibly dirty, further reinforcing the lack of attention to cleanliness. To be fair, the restaurant was a bright spot. The full breakfast was above average, well-prepared, and better than expected, and the vending machine was well stocked, which was convenient, particularly late at night. This hotel relies heavily on its location, but cleanliness and basic hygiene standards are not optional. I would not stay here again.
