The Rose and Crown in Stoke Newington is always a delight to stay at. I came from NYC for an academic conference and the hospitality and ease of check in were very nice. The staff are friendly and attentive. It’s nice to escape the bustling pub in the evenings for a quiet upstairs reprieve or stay in the inviting and warm environment for a bite and drink with friends. The breakfast is offered from 7:30-10 every morning and has a great selection of food, including British delights like marmalade. Very convenient transport to Kings Cross and Central London via the 73 and 476 buses. Other routes are a mere minutes walk away on Stoke Newington High Street. Beautiful outdoor spaces directly across from the R&C like Clissold Park and just down the street the renovated Abney Park Cemetery make this an ideal location. This was my third time staying at the Rose and Crown in Stoke Newington and I simply will not stay anywhere else! Highly recommended.

Great room, very clean, quiet. Great breakfast, served by the wonderful Kate. Bar staff , helpful and friendly. Beer good. A really good place to stay. A real pub atmosphere and on the top floor no noise. We’ll be back !! Handy location for visiting family around that area. Plenty of walking areas too.

We stayed in Room 6 which was really lovely BUT it is loud. You will not sleep well. Pub noise goes on until 1am followed by loud furniture movements in the pub. Then at 5.30am the morning staff slam the tables and chairs around (I assume mopping the floors). The atmosphere in the pub is really lovely and the staff are kind and welcoming. I liked the toast and avocado at breakfast time plus healthy cereal options. They need to offer some plant based butter as it’s not hard to keep a tub in the fridge for dairy free guests. We would stay again but not on the first floor.

Family visit to this traditional style bustling pub. Food was very good and the staff friendly. Good selection of pub grub and good selection of beers and lagers plus some very nice real ales. Pub was busy on the Saturday evening we had reserved out table but the service was very good. Great friendly atmosphere with families and groups of friends in this pub.

Excellent service, excellent food, excellent atmosphere. The waitress was very quick, professional and pleasant. Sunday lunch was good value for money and children are happily catered for. Book in on Sundays whenever travelling up to London

I have stayed at the R & C a few times. My brother who lives near R & C had recommended it. Well, I have never been disappointed! The rooms are very comfortable and clean with nice beds, bed linens and bathrooms. Kate and her staff are very warm and helpful, and the continental breakfast is excellent. For my latest visit, I had to extend my stay several days due to a family emergency. And Kate was incredibly supportive and made sure I had a room to stay in every night. I plan to be back in London in a couple of months, and I will definitely stay at the R & C.

We stay regularly at the Rose and Crown while visiting our children in London. The first time we stayed was for the superb location, both for proximity to where our children live and the beautiful Clissold Park. We return however because of the wonderful service from staff led by Kate. There is always a warm welcome and such attention to detail. Kate remembers us and is always asking after us and our family. It makes us feel so at home and comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are very well appointed and clean with really comfortable beds. The continental breakfast is delicious and it was a treat to sit by the fire in the morning on this visit. Highly recommended and we will be back again. Thanks again Kate for a lovely stay.

We stayed over Christmas and found the charmingly friendly and helpful service to be outstanding. Kate, who handles the hotel side of things, was an exemplar of this. She personally welcomed us for breakfast which was the best, most thoughtfully designed and presented one I’ve ever encountered. The fires were lit so the atmosphere was as warm and welcoming as Kate herself. The room was beautifully maintained and spacious with ample storage space as well. I mentioned to Kate that a drawer front was loose and she made a not to get the handyman to see to it with genuine gratitude. Every detail being important is part of what contributes to the extraordinary level of charm and professionalism. All very inspiring in this day and age.
