Aptel East

London|1.81km from Ragged School Museum
We stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate my daughters 40th, we stayed on the 5th floor, we had room 30 which had a dodgy door so make sure it’s closed properly if you stay in it, the room was advertised as a city view but all we could see was the royal London hospital, my daughter had room 33 which you could see the shard from, just so your aware if your paying extra for the view it’s not really worth it, anyway to the good points of which there were many, check in was very quick and easy, you will need a £50 refundable deposit upon arrival, the reception staff were all very helpful and friendly, the room was very modern and we had plenty of space, the bed was comfy and we never heard any noise from anywhere during our stay, the rooms are a little sp**** and clinical, a few pictures on the walls would make a huge difference but didn’t in any way affect our stay, the area itself isn’t the best, lots of shops that were wholesale only, all shuttered up on a night with lots of graffiti on them, if you leave the apartments and turn right you come to the Castle pub, we went in here for a drink but the music wasn’t to our liking so left after one, if you keep to the left where the street splits at the Castle it’s like a different world, new buildings all very nice and clean, this way takes you towards the Tower Hill tube station which we used as we called into the Goodman’s field (Wetherspoons) for a breakfast to start the day, there are closer tube stations to the Aptel though, we would stay here again but it’s a little too far out for me, but don’t hesitate if your thinking of booking it, you won’t be disappointed

What a lovely hotel and surprisingly quiet at night. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive on check in, showing us to our room (also as an early check-in) and chatting to us about the property. We had one of the top floor rooms, which was spacious and light. Facilities were very clean. Bed was comfortable and we slept really well. The room looked fresh and being able to open a window for fresh air is a big plus. Will definitely stay again when we do another trip

Nice building, friendly staff, pleasant indoor garden, good breakfast, one minute walk from DLR station, supermarket nearby. We stayed in apartment 2: spacious, clean, good beds, warm and noisy, but all overall a very good accommodation in a handy location and with a pleasant, safe atmosphere.

My husband and I booked 2 nights here initially. Our room was a good size but it was dark and dingy, cold and dirty! There was a used cotton bud on the window sill, window sills were dirty, the small table provided for coffee and tea etc had obviously not been wiped from previous guests as stained. Toilet and bathroom facilities were also unclean. The room itself was very cold when we arrived but we hoped that maybe the heating would be switched on later in the evening. However, this was not the case and after returning from an evening out it was still very cold and we had to keep our coats on to stay warm. My husband tried to turn the radiator on but there was no control on it to do so! It was meant to be a non-smoking room which is what we booked, but it smelt of stale smoke. We both had an awful night sleep as the mattress was very thin and uncomfortable. The duvet cover looked awful and had not even been ironed! As if things couldn’t get any worse, in the morning when we went to have a shower there was no hot water!! So we had to have a very quick freezing cold shower. After all this we decided that we were not going to spend another night at this awful place so checked out. When we explained some of the reasons we were offered no apology but were told that there must have been a problem with the boiler and we should have let them know about the water at the time. Not so easy to do when you’re stood in the shower, no access to the pub to speak to anyone and no phone in room!! Also told that we could have turned radiator in room on but it had no control!! We asked for a refund for the night we would not be staying there but this was refused which is appalling under the circumstances. Overall, disgusting place and disgusting customer service. Do not stay here!!

Staying here at the moment for 4 nights. Purpose of visit is for an appointment at Moorfields Eye Hospital which it is ideal for, less than a 30min commute. Room is clean and tidy with comfortable double bed and pull out sofa bed for the kids (family room). Cleaners daily, make the beds & change towels. Tea & coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast is quite basic but ok for the price we have paid. The hotel only supplies breakfast, no lunch or dinner service although they are more than happy for you to order takeaway and eat on their tables in the bar. They will even provide you with plates and cutlery if needed. Highly recommend ordering from Bronson's Burgers via Deliveroo. Delicious burgers and less than 30mins from order to delivery!!! Very impressed! Overall, hotel is a good base for getting around London for sightseeing for a few days but if staying any longer I would look for somewhere slightly higher quality. Limehouse train station is a 5 min walk away. Nearest bus stop 2 min walk away.
