Location, location, location! Our family recently concluded our second stay at Casa del Mar and it could not have been a better vacation spot. The proximity to the Sarasota Airport and the beautiful town of St. Armands, coupled with the even closer proximity to wonderful restaurants, local shops and Publix added to the ease of our trip. The staff we encountered at Casa del Mar were extremely pleasant, efficient, knowledgeable, and attentive. Our beautiful condo had the perfect beach vibe as well as a magnificent view of the Gulf of Mexico. As soon as we stepped off our patio, our feet were on a pristine beach. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the patio, walks on the beach, viewed dolphins frolicking in the Gulf, spent the afternoons relaxing on the beach and evenings dining at fabulous restaurants. There is also a lovely pool, but our family could not get our feet out of the sand and Gulf! We are already planning our return trip and are looking forward to our Casa del Mar vacation next year!

Casa Del Mar is truly a little slice of paradise: - Clean and well kept condos that each have their own personal touch - The staff is friendly and accommodating - Family friendly amenities including a pool, deck area, and tennis/pickleball courts - Quiet (and private!) white sandy beaches steps from your condo door - Private location but a short drive to great restaurants and shopping in St. Armands and to the airport in Sarasota. Will be coming back here for years to come.

Casa del Mar Beach resort is one of our favorite places to stay on vacation. The units are always clean and well maintained. The pool and beach area are great to hang out at and the location is ideal for access to food and shopping. I would highly recommend staying here for a vacation on Long boat key.

I have been coming to Casa Del Mar since 1989 and love the place, which we is why I have visited so many times. However on this trip we had booked Unit C11 for the last two weeks of our four week stay having spent the first two weeks in B11. After receiving confirmation for our stay in C11 we were contacted by CDM some weeks later and told that we had been moved to C12 as the owners now required C11. I looked on the website and wasn’t totally happy with the pictures of C12. I checked availability for other units. But due to the memorial week they were fully booked. On arrival in C12 my first impression was that it needed a facelift and was dated, even though some of the furniture was new. We checked around the unit and found the following faults: The cable socket in the master bedroom had been pulled from the wall and was hanging by the cable, The flooring bar between master bedroom and en-suite was loose and dangerous, The handle for the recliner chair was broken and sticking out at an angle of 45 degrees and was dangerous and around the top windows in the living room there was black around two of the windows, either dirt or mould or both. We also found that the sliding patio doors would not lock, but this was easily fixed with a spray of WD40. All of these issues should have been found and fixed before our occupation, surely CDM should not rely on the occupants to report the faults! Also the internet in this unit is terrible. Each unit should have its own internet, but with a common password for the every unit. Not a good idea!. We were unable to connect the smart tv to the internet as it wouldn’t find our unit and had to rely on using another units internet. It was the same with our iPads and phones, some days it would find C12 but wouldn’t accept the password and if you were able to connect it was so slow. All these issues were reported and fixed apart from the internet which is still the same. Then to continue the theme and the reason for this review is that on Friday night I sat on the bottom of one of the single beds and the bed collapsed causing me to fall off, luckily no serious injury. On checking underneath I found that the bed leg had become detached from its fixing, just another sign of an refurb/update being seriously required. C11 looks like a beautiful modernised unit and C12 is the opposite, so is it right that you should have to pay the same price when you take into account the standard of the various units? I think not and I would not want to stay in C12 again until it had been modernised. Casa Del Mar is still a wonderful place and I will continue to stay here in the future, but in a unit of my request and not one that I was forced into using.

We stayed in unit E10. This is a very old complex. Our family has stayed in 4 beach front condos in the last 2 years from Orange Beach to Sandibel Island and this one was the worst. Pros: Great pool, grounds clean and in good shape, love the beach, condo decor and kitchen set up. Ice maker worked great. Cons: 1. Hot water in all sinks but non in showers. Office closed so called next day after taking cold showers that night. Told to turn handle on the way to hot then back if off a little to get hot water. It did work in hall bathroom but not in master - warm water only here. Should have been fixed since management knew about it or at least told at check in or a sign explaining in both bathrooms. 2. No instructions on how to use the 2 remotes to control the TV or the channels that the owner subscripted to out of the 100's listed. 3. We like to sleep in a cold room. Thermostat set so can’t drop temp below 70 degrees. 4. The shower door only opens to 15 in when opened outward in the hall bathroom but did open inward for better clearance. 5. THE DEAL BREAKER. Hall bathroom toliet unusable for an adult unless you can manage to sit side saddle. My wife is 5'2" under 120 lbs and she couldn't use it. We won't return.

Stayed here for 4 days as part of a large group in town for a wedding. Got to see a number of rooms and get an overall impression. Location on LBK is okay, but there are limited places that you can walk for food or entertainment, so plan to be in car if you want ice cream or a meal out. Most of the common areas were in good shape but not new or impressive. The landscaping and natural beauty of the property were not special. The tennis/pickleball and grilling area were very well taken care of. The latter had about seven large grills you could use to make big meal, and there were picnic table seating (a bit cramp) for at least 20 or more. Our room (D7) was serviceable but underwhelming. The infrastructure (counters, facilities, etc.) showed age and use. The layout and space (similar across units sleeping 6) were not great. The master bedroom and en suite bath was good-sized, but the room with twins was cramped, had a very small TV, and the hall bath was tiny with no room for more than one at a time standing. Open venting between the twin-bed room and the main family room area made noise in the bedroom an issue if others were up later. Unlike others, there was no outdoor seating for this unit. The supporting materials for this unit were also minimal. A coffeemaker, toaster, blender, and basic kitchen utensils/tableware, etc. -- but none of the nice touches that show up in some places (spices, extra cleaning supplies, TP, and other depletable items). Some of the other units did not have these same concerns -- so the general advice is be careful about which unit you get and do your research on what it looks like, where it is located on the property, and etc. I would consider this place less a "resort" and more a motel with a full kitchen and access to an excellent beach.

Our vacation was ruined by having to kill giant COCKROACHES in our unit on 3 different nights in one week. The first night we were shocked but after killing a single cockroach figured it was over…the next night I had to kill 2 more GIANT COCKROACHES and my wife and elderly in-laws couldn’t sleep, having to leave lights on and blocking doors with towels. I was so upset that I went to the office and informed them, unsurprised they asked if we wanted to pack up all of our clothes, food, toiletries etc.and move to another unit which would have been a lot for my in-laws in their mid 80’s and us in our 60’s. So they offered us the use of a beach umbrella and called an exterminator who they are on a first name basis with. The next night we killed another GIANT COCKROACH and a lizard, and the last night killed 2 large worms slithering under the table. Again I went to the office to complain, the women who the prior day said they would speak with the manager, said there was NOTHING they would do! The week before us, my brother in-law killed a GIANT COCKROACH in a different unit. We saw a large SNAKE in the shin deep grass next to the pool. They have raccoons that walk around the gas grills and units at night. I have never written a review of a resort or restaurant in my 35 years of traveling but wanted to warn others of what to expect.

Casa Del Mar is very well kept. Staff is visible and helpful. We stayed in unit D01 . The unit is very nicely updated and comfortable, with a private unscreened porch with well kept patio furniture. Upon check in we had a few issues within the unit to be addressed but the staff rectified quickly. We have stayed in other Gulf side complexes but Casa Del Mar really appears to be the most well kept. The pool area which is Gulf front was very clean and the bbq area is also well maintained & clean.

We stayed at unit D3 at Casa Del Mar the week after Thanksgiving and had a fantastic time! The unit was very clean and well appointed - comfortable beds, great kitchen, and a really nice and spacious living and dining room. We were there with another couple and the set up of 2 bedrooms and 2 baths was perfect (as it would be for a family with kids). We didn't need to use it, but there was also a sofa bed in the living room. It was so nice to wake up each morning and walk right out to the beach. We had an umbrella and there were always plenty of chairs. And the pool was really great - nice and warm on the chillier days and never crowded. The sunsets at night were not to be missed - just gorgeous. We played tennis on their courts several times; we can't wait to come back and play again as they refinished the courts while we were there and they look beautiful and now are set up for pickleball as well. They had plenty of grills and a nice firepit, too. The grounds were well cared for and very nicely kept. The location is fantastic - a grocery store is just a few miles down the road and so many fabulous restaurants a short drive away. Very easy to get to St. Armand's Circle or into Sarasota. We cannot wait to come back!!!
