What a find! Conveniently positioned close to the A1 for north / south journeys the Anglers Arms made a perfect stopover, whilst also havibg an attractive tranquil setting. Rooms were comfy, clean, nicely decorated and furnished and well equipped. The proprietor phoned me after I made a last minute booking advising last food order time ( sadly we were tok late to eat) and waited for our late arrival to check us in and serve us drinks. The bar area was lovrly, as was the welcome. Breakfast was delicious, the menu choice was excellent. I look forward to a return visit when I can also try out the evening menu.

We had a lovely stay at the Anglers Arms. Peaceful location, beautifully clean . Jolly good gastropub dinner, delicious gin and tonic and the breakfasts are super, both cooked and fruit /yoghurt choices at pretty tables with fresh flowers . Great start to the day . The service is great. The staff are warm, professional and helpful which of course means there is a special atmosphere, welcoming and relaxing. The only thing was our room was at the top of the Inn , lots of steps which was quite tricky with our bags and two little daschunds to take in and out. However the dogs were also welcomed . Would go back . Glad we fell upon it.

Just returned from a 3 night stay. Very nice room overlooking the river. Cleaned and serviced to a high standard daily. Staff were wonderful and accommodating. Food was of very good quality and delicious, ate there each night. Young staff in the restaurant were so polite and efficient. Will be back.

Had a meal with friends in the restaurant. Delicious food, lovely atmosphere and great service from the very friendly and efficient staff. Our friends were booked in for an overnight stay and they were impressed with the cleanliness and comfort of their room. Their breakfast was delicious apparently. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic stay! Welcome, location, staff and food all top notch. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff in the restaurant, and availability of smaller portions was very welcome. Breakfast excellent. Can heartily recommend - we look forward to our next visit. Only suggestion would be a grab handle in the shower - quite a big step in and out.

Lovely stay. Clean, comfortable room, fabulous food and friendly staff. We ate dinner there, lots of choice and beautifully cooked. Breakfast was great. Quality products, again, plenty of choice. Peaceful location, just what we wanted. We will be back.

What a great find, I'm so glad we booked a night at The Anglers Arms. It's in a quiet location. The service was brilliant from start to finish. We stayed one night and had supper and breakfast. Food was great, overall a great stay. Really reasonably priced.

This is the 8th time visiting and I absolutely love it here. Nothing to dislike. Kelly has become a dear friend to me and always make me feel at home. Will be back soon I hope. Love you Kelly and thank you for everything. You are so lovely and can't wait to see you again.

Friendly but slow service in the restaurant area even though there was only one other table occupied. We asked about the bone marrow gravy that came with the steak pie and were informed that it was vegan! The sirloin roast beef dinner only had one thick slice of tough meat. A large glass of red wine was nearly £10 which seemed rather expensive. We won’t be returning.
