What an experience to live in a Tulou for a few days with Stephen as the perfect host has accommodated everything you need. I enjoyed the breakfasts and dinners prepared by Stephen's mom that tasted much better than some restaurants. I love Hakka food. Thanks for everything, Stephen. Maybe I will visit you again.

A serene and charming inn in a lovely village. We stayed 3 nights but most people stay 1 or 2. Needless to say, the tulou are incredible. The proprietor, a 26th generation local, is very helpful and responsive. He gave us a map of the village, explained the "rules" of self-guided tulou tours (e.g., if the front door is open, you may go in and look around the ground floor), and arranged a driver and itinerary during our stay. He could predict our needs, wasn't pushy at all, and made us feel welcome. Fair prices. The inn itself is in a tulou, so expect stairs and people walking through the courtyard. It is in the countryside (think chickens in the AM); we enjoyed the slow pace and quiet evenings. Delicious homestyle local food cooked by the proprietor's sweet mother. Eastern and Western breakfast, coffee available. Laundry and detergent, too. A memorable stay for our family of five. Exactly what we had hoped it would be

Awen was a fantastic host. He helped me arrange my whole trip around the 土楼 and treated me like family. Speaking of family - his mother’s cooking was delicious. Highly recommend this family run business.

Changdi Inn is a wonderful old house within the Hongkengcun tulou cluster. The location is superb, and the owner, Mr Lin, is charming and helpful. Thank you for a terrific stay!

This was a great experience. Out host made our visit very memorable and to stay in a traditional Tulou was very unique. 100% recommend.

Highly recommended if you want a traditional Hakka Chinese home sat in a small village up in the mountains. It can be a bit hard to get to, but definitely worth it. Stephen, the owner speaks decent English, perhaps the only one in the region who does, and he’s a great person to talk to. The architecture of the place is stunning, every turn is beautiful. The village itself is like it’s suspended in time. There are some tourists that come through during the day but in the late afternoon and early morning, it is incredibly tranquil and peaceful. The room I had was very comfortable, great bed and sheets, with air-conditioning and it was a delight just walking up to the room every day. The bathroom is more standard with an open shower, but great hot water. I stayed for two nights and during the day Steven arranged a driver to take me around to the various tulou sites, including some that have no tourists there at all. Mind blown. As an aside, avoid the King of tulou site, it’s full of massive tour groups and the tulou have been converted into market stalls.

The host family was incredibly warm and hospitable! The actual place perfectly matches the positive reviews. Staying inside a Tulou was a truly unique and memorable experience. We'll definitely be back!

Spending a night at Changdi Inn, nestled in the heart of the historic Hongkeng Tulou Cluster, was truly one of the most unforgettable experiences of my Xiamen trip. The inn is located within a centuries old Hakka earthen building, and the moment you step inside, you will be instantly transported back in time. The stay offers an immersive look into traditional Hakka culture and architecture, surrounded by thick earthen walls, wooden beams, and antique details that speak volumes of the past. What mak it extra special was meeting the friendly innkeeper, a 6th generation descendant of the family that built and preserved this Tulou. He shared stories and local insights making the whole experience even more meaningful. The room was simple yet clean and comfortable, blending rustic charm with basic modern comforts. I got to enjoy authentic Hakka meals, lovingly prepared and bursting with homestyle flavor, perfect after a day of exploring. Waking up in the peaceful village setting, watching the locals go about their daily lives, and hearing the birds chirping outside, it's a rare, soulful escape from the city.

I would highly recommend Changdi Inn, housed in a family owned tulou in a peaceful spot by the river in the village. a very unique experience! Our host Steven spoke great English and was the most friendly and helpful host. Our dinner was prepared by the mother and we could enjoy that and breakfast in the tulou courtyard. Very special !

Stayed here with my husband, and mum and dad - it was the highlight of our trip. A really beautiful building, amazing location for wandering around the village. Stephen and his family were wonderful hosts. The food was phenomenal.

My parents and I stayed and dined at Fuyu Lou, which is considered the grandest Tulou in the Tulou Prince Scenic Area. Our host, Ah Wen, was incredibly warm and attentive; he even picked us up and dropped us off at the village entrance, and treated us to a delightful tea tasting. The dishes prepared by the auntie were incredibly delicious, allowing us to truly savor authentic Tulou cuisine. The courtyard had a wonderful ambiance, becoming particularly stunning in the evenings when the lanterns illuminated. Our room was also very clean, and the high-quality toiletries provided were a nice touch. When my parents felt a bit chilly at night, the auntie, despite already having gone to bed, thoughtfully brought them extra blankets – we were truly grateful for her kindness! Having explored various other Tulou structures throughout the Tulou Prince Scenic Area, we unanimously agreed that Fuyu Lou stands out as exceptional in every aspect – its rich history, beautiful environment, and the wonderful host. We truly made the perfect choice! Our stay and dining experience at Fuyu Lou was undoubtedly the biggest highlight of our entire Fujian trip!

The owner clearly puts a lot of care into running the place, and the food is genuinely delicious.
