Almijara Residence is small and personal. I was astounded by the level of attention to detail. The proprietor, Maurice, couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful. It is clearly not just a business. The room was delightful with everything needed including a very comfortable bed and pillows and soft white bath sheets. The breakfasts were outstanding, set on a beautiful sun-terrace. Different each morning, they were delicious and freshly prepared with care and included fresh juices, excellent coffee and tempting dishes. Recommendations of where to visit in town included sites, restaurants and a lovely cocktail bar, and further afield with advice on travel arrangements. Cómpeta is a beautiful town, friendly, well-serviced, and a wonderful base to explore in itself and to explore from.

Full marks to Maurice and Paul at Almijara Residence in Cómpeta. They raise the game for other B&Bs in the area. The Residence itself is a beautifully refurbished town house and we recommended it to friends visiting the area They were delighted with the high standard and comfort of the accommodation and we were fortunate to join them for one of Maurice’s stand- out breakfasts. Highly recommended as a base to explore the beautiful Axarquia.

A friend of ours took us there for breakfast. It was a mouth watering experience. So refreshing to have a breakfast with a difference and not the same old traditional type of meal. Service was impecable as was the decor, cleanliness and and rooms. Owners and staff so obliging and friendly. The view is stunning looking out onto the gorgeous very spanish town church in the square and the homes reaching up the hills. Will definitely recommend Aljimara guest house in the future. Well done !!!!

Prime location with delightful breakfast/bar terrace overlooking the square. Rooms very comfortable, clean and with everything your need. Friendly service, and Maurice’s breakfasts were delicious.

We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay in Competa in early September. The room was clean and modern, with a comfortable bed and a charming view over the town square. Maurice made us feel very at home, with lots of local restaurant recommendations and helped us to make bookings, suggestions for activities and helpful directions. The breakfasts on the terrace were delicious. We also enjoyed this space in evenings for drinks, where we had views all the way to Morroco on a clear day. Highly recommend.

I can not even make this venue a high enough score spectacular brilliant amazing are a few words. This was my first trip to Competa and Almijara but it certainly won't be my last. Maurice and Paul are most definitely the most welcoming hosts and breakfast would not be out of place at the Ritz in London. Do not miss this this amazing gem.

We stayed at Casa Alimjaja during our first visit to Cómpeta and were instantly impressed by Maurice’s warm hospitality. He made us feel truly welcome and gave us the best first impression of this wonderful town. Highly recommended!
