Husum Hotel

Fantastic traditional hotel in a beautiful location. The whole stay was relaxing and peaceful. We stayed mid October which we found out was off season and the hotel was winding down for the season. We were the only guests staying this night and after a long drive from our previous location it was a great place to stay. The lady on reception and later serving dinner was friendly, charming and very attentive. We had chosen the dinner option which I would 100% recommend. It was one of the nicest meals we experienced whilst in Norway and definitely worth the money. We had read how expensive it was on reviews, however we found it very reasonable for Norway and excellent value for money for what we received. After dinner we relaxed with a drink in front of the cosy log burner before retiring for the night. The room was comfy and warm & the breakfast the next morning was excellent and plentiful. We would definitely return to this hotel. Thank you for an excellent stay.

This was the best place we stayed at. A really lovely old Norwegian hotel beautifully restored in every way. We also had the best food here as well so do book dinner. The chefs cooking was amazing. Leek soup, fillet steak cooked beautifully in a pepper sauce, and strawberries and homemade ice cream. From here we walked part of the Kings Road, Kongevegan at Galdane. We also did the best fjord trip from Flam to Gudvangen on an electric cruise boat. I would advise both ways.

We stayed at Husum Hotel, an old, venerable and historic hotel. It seemed like the hotel was far from civilization, but it was actually very close to the ancient royal road (Vindhella), which was an important junction between east and west in the old days. The hotel was also near the village of Lærdal and the Borgund Stave Church. King Sverre traveled this way in BCE 1177. The place had its charm, a bit secluded and with the sound of the rapids in the Lærdal River. Lush vegetation, forest and mountains surrounded the estate. The guestbook and the many pictures on the walls showed that the hotel had hosted some famous guests. Before we arrived at the hotel, a friendly staff member called us and asked if we wanted dinner at the hotel, which we agreed to. We were not in high season in mid-June 2023 and when we arrived at the hotel after visiting Borgund Stave Church, we were warmly welcomed. The nice hotel manager showed us our room. The room was not big, but it had a large double bed, a couple of comfortable chairs and a table. A beige color dominated the room. The bathroom was a good size, with a large shower cabin, toilet, sink and everything else you would expect in a bathroom. The room was on the second floor and we did not have a remarkable view. The view was towards the hillside and the mountain that the hotel was at the foot of. That meant that we did not hear much of the river's roaring noise. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and it was delicious. The dining room looked like it was in its original form with ceiling paintings and old wallpaper. This was a great place to stay and for us it was a nice experience where we relaxed mostly for the next day's car ride to Stryn. We are a couple in our 50s.

The venue a beautiful old house in Borgund, offer specious rooms, with a very personal touch. Tasteful décor and great service. The restaurant offers a 3 course menu, delicious dishes, grateful decorated, and very good products, also breakfast was a non plus ultra. Is a must to stay there!
