Travelodge Ludlow

Travelodge Ludlow

📍 Foldgate Ln, Ludlow
★★★ 8.6 (51 reviews)

"I made a reservation for 2 nights with my family (my wife and 3 year old son) on 07/12/2025 using the Travelodge app, with a check-in on 08/12/2025 and a check-out on 10/12/2025. I arrived in Ludlow on 8 December and told the receptionist that I had a reservation to get to my room. At first, she said no, I said yes and showed her my reservation number. She gave me the room. We left our luggage and left. As it was our first time in Ludlow, we went to the town centre to explore. We came back in the evening and didn't notice the detail in the room. The room was dirty and full of spider webs. I don't know how long the room had been unused. I went to reception immediately and told the lady at the reception that the room was full of dirty spider webs and how long it had been there. I asked if the room was not used, he said he was not sure and that he would send someone to clean it if you were upset, he cleaned the spider webs even though it was late, we said everything would be okay, we still spent the night in the room, I got up in the morning, I came to the reception for breakfast or where we could go, he told me that I would be checking out on December 9th, I said there was a mistake about this, I made the reservation for December 8th and 9th, I made it through the application and said there was a problem with your application, he gave me the customer representative number, I called 9 times, I could not reach him, I am trying to explain the situation, they do not understand, they are incompetent in problem solving, there is no responsibility, I checked in on the day I made the reservation, I paid for two nights, I stayed for one night and was evicted from the hotel, when I learned this, it was an hour before the last check out, terrible service, terrible service, terrible room, dirty and unacceptable, instead of these, this kind of service is unacceptable, they charged me for two nights, but still They say you will make the payment. I asked the person at the reception why they did not call us and inform us if we did not come to work on December 7th according to my reservation. There is no answer, no responsibility, they could not offer any solution, they could not do anything about the dirty room. This service is unacceptable in this way. This establishment needs to be inspected and the fee should be refunded."

📍 25 Bull Ring, Ludlow
★★★★ 8.1 (100 reviews)

"The Feathers is well located in the centre of Ludlow and is an old building that is full of charm. However, this also means that it is a bit of a rabbit warren inside, making it challenging to find your way around the long, branching corridors - a definite nightmare in event of a fire. The carpark was full when we arrived, despite it being much larger than I expected, but there was a council carpark behind the hotel and only a short walk away, which was free from 6pm to 8am, which is very convenient. Our bed was large, clean and comfortable and the room was well resourced: tea and coffee making facilities with a wide range of teas and milks; complimentary canned water in the mini fridge; iron and ironing board; plenty of sockets including USB, at the bedside and a variety of products in the bathroom, though no toothpaste which was the one thing we'd forgotten to pack! One of the spoons was dirty, hence only 4 stars for cleanliness. The guest wifi was strong and easy to access. We didn't have time to use the reception areas downstairs, but they looked beautifully presented and were full of character, offering a very attractive space to have a drink or meal. Staff at reception were pleasant and professional."

"At the peak of Saturday night restaurant and bar custom the Manager and kitchen staff were incredibly accommodating and pleasant to fit us in. Wonderful sea bass and vegetables after very little wait, considering our lack of advance booking."

Old Downton Lodge

"The bedrooms were so well thought out - fresh homemade biscuits, charging station, lovely toiletries, comfortable pillows etc. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was some of the best….including the Gin and Tonic! There were plenty of walks from the door of the hotel, helpful maps to borrow and some great stop off points for recharging."

The Cliffe at Dinham ★★★★
"This is a lovely place, we stayed in the ‘cottage’ which was more like an annexe building and it had two rooms of which we occupied one. The room was good, we enjoyed breakfast in the dining room and the breakfast menu had a lot of choice too which was great. There were options for a full English style breakfast, but also options for cereals and fruits etc. We decided to try dinner at the hotel one evening and we were extremely happy with our choice. The food was excellent quality and very enjoyable. The hotel is a short walk into the centre, very close to the castle which is worth a visit and you can see the castle from the road you walk on from the hotel to the city."

"Very comfortable stay. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and very quiet. The only sound we heard was birdsong, so relaxing. There is a Greggs, Asda local and Starbucks on site. Over the road is Sawley Arms hotel, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is good and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend this Travelodge."

The Queens ★★★
"What a find! We were initially only looking for an overnighter so this place did not show in the original search as it's a minimum of 2 nights. When our plans changed, and the original accommodation couldn't do the 2nd night, we found the Queens - and so glad we did! We visited Ludlow for the Food Festival - I won't be reviewing that but you really should go - It's amazing! We were met on our arrival and promptly taken to our room - The Lower Cottage. It was immaculately presented and extremely clean. First impressions were everything you'd hope for. We were then introduced to Jane the owner, she was brilliant. Really bubbly and enthusiastic and a hive of local knowledge down to where (and where not) to eat. The Queens itself is quite a busy pub so the garden can get a little noisy at times, however the double glazing is very efficient at masking 90% of any noise. The facilities were perfect for what we needed. We'd brought provisions for breakfast with us as it's not provided at the Queens, but that suited us as we were there for the foodie experience of Ludlow. The bed is comfortable, bathroom perfect and enough of a kitchenette to keep you fed and watered. Parking is offsite by the library. Free after 6pm and all day Sunday. £4.00 for the full day (8am-6pm) so very reasonable as we arrived after 6 on the Friday and left on the Sunday! Would I recommend the Queens - Absolutely. Would I stay again - Definitely. See you for the festival next year!"

"Booked a few nights in the Downton Lodge purely because we wanted to meet up with friends and it was equidistant from both our homes and it looked nice on their website. Any expectations were comfortably exceeded! Staff, welcoming, friendly and accommodating, food exceptional, rooms delightful and location perfect. We will definitely return, as soon as we've saved up enough for a bottle of wine 😉"
