I don’t normally write reviews but after visiting this hotel I had to. Waited 5 minutes for front office staff to come to the desk, no one in the restaurant offered us water or came to ask what we wanted for lunch until about 10 minutes after we’ve seated, food wasn’t the best, staff seemed like they didn’t even want to even be their. Best part was the views and surrounding areas.

I booked a business meeting with breakfast and lunch and I wished it to be over before it even started. Communication of all staff including reception and event organising was terrible. I had to keep chasing until I got some sort of confirmation that we have reserved the date of our event and even then I felt like I am speaking foreign language when I wrote number of emails with detailed description of what we need for this event. When we arrived I was taken aback that we had jugs of water with small glasses of diluted juice scattered around the meeting tables instead of fruit juice that I initially asked for, there were 21 mini pastries for a total number of 16 guests, projector was cutting out so we had to use our own, lunch was very disorganised with side-plates on table but nothing to put on them, no butter for guests that had soup, one of guests went to ask for an extra teacup and saucer and was told "it's not my job" by one of the staff members he managed to speak to. I asked if we are going to have teas and coffees with/after our desert and two staff members looked very confused and in a little while one returned saying that it's not included in our booking and the other one turned up with different booking slips for different events and was even more confused when I told him that neither of those booking slips are for our function. I repeatedly asked for the event organiser to confirm the details for our event and to send me updated invoices but I had to involve general manager until things started moving. Communication doesn't cost anything and a bit of a professionalism goes a long way so I feel that it is perhaps an area for improvement for the staff of The Old Manor Hotel. It is safe to say that everyone attending the meeting will not be recommending this establishment

Went tonight for a high tea which we were all looking forward to. Oh well what can I say. The fish and chips amazing but and it’s a big but. My mother in law ordered a salad 🤣🤣🤣🤣 what did she get 6 lettuce leafs, tablespoon of finely chopped peppers and a tablespoon on finely chopped red onion . It was a side salad not a salad. When the staff asked if everything was ok we said about the salad and they were disinterested on the few occasions when I commented about it they just shrugged it off but did offer her a free glass of wine. Next the cakes boring and all the same taste. Scones far too large should have been 4 smaller ones and not 2 large. We had to ask for the tea, coffee and toast as they were never coming out. Had to ask for extra butter and jam and if the raspberry jam could be changed to strawberry . Yes the girl brought us 2 strawberry and another raspberry. Maybe the staff need to be more attentive with all customers. It was not busy and there were plenty of staff on shift so it should never have been like this. The young boy was the only one that seemed to be happy to be at work . The dark haired lady and man with the shoulder length hair were just going through the motions of being at work

Cannot fault our lunch experience. The service was courteous and friendly. We had a little wait on the food, but as it was obviously freshly prepared, it wasn’t a problem. Gave us time to appreciate the magnificent view. My sea bass was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. It was delicious. The vegetables had just the right amount of bite to them, not too undercooked or soggy. The others had the chicken and haggis stack, no complaints there either. The lemon tart with blackcurrant sorbet was lovely, just the right blend of sweet and sharp. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

We ate at the restaurant and felt it was a little disappointing. The battered fish was soggy and the crumble inedible as the crumble topping was more like biscuit dust with excessive cinnamon. The veg with the salmon dish was undercooked and generally bland. We had been looking forward to a visit here for a while but don’t think we will be back.

Went for afternoon tea with family, served nut-allergen cousin pistachio and walnut carrot cake and a dairy-free sister a cheddar sandwich. Great view, decent food, okay staff - but forever thankful none of my families allergens are as life-threatening as they could be.

One of our party has a severe pistachio allergy so we ordered a nut free afternoon tea only to realise the carrot cake had pistachios on top AFTER they’d already eaten some. They spent the next hour in the bathroom because of a lack of care from the staff but at least it wasn’t too serious!
