What a shame that a hotel brand like Rosewood, a name known for its service and attention to detail, would open its first property in Doha and deliver a level of service that is honestly embarrassing. Let’s start with the basics. I ordered a Red Bull through in-room dining and was told it would arrive in under 10 minutes. It took more than 30 minutes, after multiple follow ups. If you cannot deliver a single can of Red Bull on time, what exactly are you doing behind the scenes? Then I requested a laundry bag. A LAUNDRY BAG. It took more than 45 minutes and four phone calls. Four. I had to chase the hotel for 45 minutes just to get a bag that should already be in the room. How does a “luxury” hotel not stock a room with a simple laundry bag in the first place? Before heading out for the night, I called and requested turndown service and extra water bottles. I came back to the room and found no turndown, dirty glasses still there, towels not changed, room untouched. The only thing that happened was the water bottles were placed on the table. So housekeeping clearly entered the room, did the easiest part, and walked right back out leaving everything else exactly as it was. That is not “oversight.” That is laziness and a complete lack of standards. And the funniest part is I should not even have to request turndown at this level, but I did, and they still could not be bothered to do it. Then the real disaster. I took a shower and the bathroom turned into a mini swimming pool. There is an obvious plumbing or drainage issue because the water overflowed all over the bathroom floor. At that point, I am not even sure whether this hotel was opened too early or simply not checked properly. Either way, it is unacceptable. To his credit, the night manager Mohammed came immediately and was kind. He moved me to a suite. Great, except it was 4:00 AM by then. So my “luxury” experience turned into packing my belongings and moving rooms at 4:00 in the morning. No one wants to do that, and no guest should ever have to. And even the suite was not the save they thought it was. It was spacious, sure, but there was a black stain on the pillow. A visible black stain. Are we reusing stained pillows now because laundry is overwhelmed or because no one checks anything? Either answer is terrible. On top of that, the suite was on the third floor and workers randomly walked past the windows, killing any sense of privacy. I had to keep the curtains closed the entire time, so forget enjoying sunlight or feeling comfortable in the room. This stay was stressful, irritating, and the exact opposite of what people expect when they book Rosewood. The rooms are not ready, the operations are not ready, and the staff are not trained to handle full occupancy. If this is the standard they are willing to show in their “first impression” in Doha, I can only imagine how bad it gets on a busy week. Save your money. Choose somewhere else. What a shame.
