"Extraordinary staff and hospitality. Mesmerisingly beautiful place, especially the common areas and a really nice and complete breakfast. Nonetheless, significant areas of the hotel need restoration and care. Including inside some rooms. This hiccups didn’t stain our stay as the staff made their absolute best to make us comfortable and happy."

"A grand hotel in the old style. It was undergoing significant renovation while I stayed, so they're clearly making an effort to remain competitive. Staff was courteous and helpful. The dinner in the restaurant was tasty and filling at a good price. All in all an excellent value. My only complaint is the strong musty odor in my room. Fortunately the weather was good so I could open the windows wide, but the hotel really needs to eliminate the source of the smell. I didn't know before visiting Luso that it's famous for the quality of its water. The photo show the spouts in the center of town where locals come to fill their containers."

"We wouldn't go back because the breakfast was not good. Scrambled eggs OK, watermelon, presunto (raw ham) ... Rest of the hot breakfast other than eggs seemed heated up bulk buy ready prepped, coffee not good, juice not good, fruit rough cut, some of the nuts stale. The indoor pool is amazing, was totally ours at 9am, 30 degrees, beautiful. Make sure you bring a swimming hat, obligatory, typically in Portugal, they sell them at the general hotel reception, where you also have to collect swimming towels. Rooms a sort of masculine design, not beautiful, comfortable and functional. Disabled wheelchair access steep and in places little turning space. Staff mixed, some delightful, some rude."
Alegre - Bussaco Boutique Hotel
"Very classic hotel in decoration and furniture. The heating was somewhat noisy which made it difficult to rest until I had to turn it off. Breakfast is good but I think it would be very useful to start at 8.00am rather than 8.30am. Very friendly staff."

"Beautiful home, serene and equipped with everything you need. The style is unique and the ambiance was pleasant. We will definitely come back ❤️"
