Skjolden Resort ★★★

📍 35 Sørsidevegen, Luster

"In Skjolden, we stayed one night at the Skjolden Resort. We ate pizzas with a breathtaking view, overlooking the Lustrafjord. If you ask in advance, you can enjoy a warm hot tub on this same terrace, and that’s definitely something you shouldn’t miss during your trip to Norway :) Want to know more about our roadtrip in Norway? Walaker Hotel ★★★

📍 Solvorn, Solvorn

"We were driving south from Kristiansud back Bergen via the beautifull route 55 and looked for a hotel mid way. The Walaker hotel cought my attention and we booked a superior room in their new (1964) buiding. The hotel is the oldest hotel in Norway, the building is meticulously maintained. The staff was very friendly. The room was large, very comfortable bed, the shower was very good. We had dinner at the hotel, it is a 4 course fixed menu and we opoted for wine pairing as well. My wife hs some diatery restrition an the cheff accommodated for her needs. The meal, the wines and the setting were superb. Breakfast ws also very good. If in the area, do not miss this perfect hotel "

Skjolden Hotel ★★★

"We loved this cute, historic hotel located right at the innermost corner of the sognefjord in the cute little town called Skjolden. My family and I were wanting an off the beaten path vacation in Norway, and Skjolden was just the place. Beautiful fjord views from the hotel and our room, and the host was so lovely and accomodating. When we were soaked from a hike, she was able to do our laundry and have it ready promptly the next morning. In addition, the food is delightful - we tried both the bar food and their restaurant both nights and one of our favorite dishes was from here. Highly recommend. It’s quite a simple, no-frills hotel with the rooms being quite plain, but you don’t need much when you have the beautiful fjord view."

Gaupnetunet Hotell og Hytter ★★★

📍 Rådhusvegen 2, Gaupne

"Enjoyed!!! What a lovely hotel for a great price. Nothing is missing. Even though the room is simple, it is sufficient!!! The beds are good, not noisy, good smart TV!!! Especially the restaurant is also recommended! Staff is very helpful and friendly. It has certainly exceeded my expectations!"

Turtagrø Hotel

Turtagrø Hotel ★★

📍 Turtagrø, Fortun

""This hotel is a little piece of paradise for hikers. The rooms are comfortable and clean. I was in a suite room. The food is excellent, both for dinner and breakfast. I recommend you to be on half-board. At breakfast, you have the option to take a doggy bag for your hike. There is also an afternoon snack provided. There is a large reading room. Very good value ! I wish I could have stayed longer. Thank you to the Turtagro team!""

Eikum Hotel
8.1 (16 reviews)

Eikum Hotel ★★★

📍 Buene 3, Luster

"We had a bad experience in the room, not so with the food, apparently it was the last one in the hallway on the first floor and they must not have used it at all (old tube TV (CRT) with remote control not working, dead batteries not use), the carpet gave us two severe episodes of allergies, with shortness of breath, which was repeated two hours later (1am and 3am), we had to open the windows and spend the night like that, breathing from outside. a real scare that almost ruined our trip. THE CARPETS IN THE ROOMS THAT ARE NOT USED NEED TO BE THOROUGHLY CLEANED."

Skjolden Resort ★★★
"We stopped here to admire this absolutely superb "Skjolden Brygge" when we visited this area whilst on a Cunard Cruise. The views afforded to this location are just mind blowing with superb unbroken views down the Fjord with the high walled mountains all around with snow capped tops. The town itself is very small with only 200 residents we were told. It is such a picturesque, peaceful stunning location and to stay in anyone of these wonderful buildings would be unbelievable. We found the locals to be so friendly and the tourists were respectful back as they could all appreciate what we had witnessed which was an area that time had almost forgotten tucked away from prying eyes. Certainly worth a visit if you like peace and quiet."

"The two nights we spent here were exceptional. The location is perfect for enjoying this gorgeous part of the country. I highly recommend the four course dinner with wine pairings. Such an incredible selection! I was traveling with my adult daughter, who happens to be Vegan. I had made this known to the staff when booking our stay and we were blown away by the phenomenal dinner that was created just for her. The chef and staff went out of their way to design a Michelin-worthy, vegan experience for her. I look forward to returning!"

Skjolden Hotel ★★★
"We stopped at Hotel Skjolden for lunch, upon the recommendation of a Norwegian we met on the Solvorn/Ornes ferry. What a great tip! We were seated on the back deck, overlooking the beautiful fjord. We enjoyed a hamburger and delicious fishsoup. As we were the only diners, we enjoyed great service and a nice talk with the restaurant manager."

"We asked to check in a bit early after our adventurous rainy drive up from Bergen. As the owner looked up our reservation we mentioned we were in the area looking for my husband’s ancestral home. We promptly got upgraded from a standard room to a suite! Additionally was Whit Monday (Pentecostal Monday) which (unbeknownst to us) is a major holiday in Norway. We inquired if the restaurant would be open for supper and it fortunately was. (Many stores were closed along the way). We enjoyed a marvelous meal with great service - even though there was one hostess running the very busy restaurant. All the food was stellar - breakfast is included and was generous. The suite had a nice couch and desk and the hotel was very clean and quiet. One important note - the drapes were not blackout so if you require darkness to get a good sleep you should bring a mask."

"When travelling in the area it’s a perfect place to stop by for food or something to drink. If the weather is OK, I recommend to sit outside with a beautiful view to the mountains. The food is nice and the service is friendly."

"As the other reviewers have already written: it was getting old. The carpet in my room was very worn. The furnishings in the room were coordinated. At first glance, the room was clean, but unfortunately on the last day something rolled under the bed and there were some paper towels there. The terrace was freshly cleaned and the garden was well-kept. An item found in the cupboard (from the previous guest in the room?) was not cleared away by room service, even though I had put a note with this request next to it (in English and in Norwegian using an online translation program). When I took it to reception, the junior manager immediately apologized for the inconvenience. There were a few mold stains in the bathroom, which are probably structural and unavoidable. Breakfast was very "British" with fish in sweet and sour and sweet mustard sauce. Packed lunches were available for 70 NOK. Dinner was youth hostel-like: there was meat and sauce, both fine. The potatoes were bought cheaply (some of them were sweet or brown inside), but mostly OK. The completely unseasoned frozen vegetables were half raw on the first day and partly raw and lukewarm on the second. The soup was from a packet, but an effort had been made to round it off a bit. Dessert was always a pudding with whipped cream. On the last day, the food was actually delicious: salmon, rice, salad and mustard sauce. The very young employees were very friendly, as was the junior manager. Only the senior manager always pulled a grumpy face and didn't seem to speak very friendly to the employees. The lake near the hotel is great: in just a few minutes you can be at a small beach and in summer you can swim. The Spar directly in front of the hotel is also pleasant."
