Kempinski Hotel Taiyuan is located in the south commercial center of Taiyuan, many of the city's best shopping centers are all within walking distance, also with easy access to the Shanxi International Expo Center and Shanxi Sports Center, 7 km to the South Railway Station and 12 km to Wusu International Airport.

"I stayed for 4 days. There was almost no service. I arrived at the hotel at 4 PM, and although they helped me arrange a higher floor, I waited for almost an hour, and the room they arranged was still not ready. They then switched me to another room on the same floor. The lobby was very hot, and all the temporary resting spots were directly in the sun. When I got upstairs, I was a bit dumbfounded to find my room directly facing the elevator. Oh well, I checked in. The check-in experience wasn't great. Disposable toiletries weren't replenished promptly; besides toilet paper, you literally only got them once. For a 4-day stay (2 days booked via a group deal, 2 days via other platforms), the bedside power outlet didn't work. I had to unplug the table lamp to charge my phone, and that outlet was just awful. The floor-to-ceiling window blinds were very dirty, covered in dust. For the same pre-sale price, Shangri-La offers much better value for money. Kempinski seemed forced into pre-selling, almost as if they don't want future guests. There are just too many options in Taiyuan for this price point."

"A Very Relaxing and Memorable Stay From the moment I walked into the hotel, I could feel a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The Front Office staff were very friendly and helpful. They took the time to talk with us, explain things, and made the check-in process very smooth. The room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. I really liked the soft and relaxing colors of the room. The bed was big and comfortable, and the pillows were very soft. The bathroom, toilet, and dressing area were also well separated and well organized. There were also plenty of amenities in the room. I liked the evening turndown service. When we came back to the room in the evening, the bed had already been prepared, the lights were adjusted to a relaxing level, and there was a small snack next to the bed. After spending the whole day outside, this made us feel very relaxed and helped us forget how tired we were. The room was also very quiet. The curtains had two layers, so almost no sunlight came into the room in the morning. The air conditioner could be adjusted to the temperature we wanted, and the air did not blow directly onto us. We could not hear much noise from outside, so we had a very good night’s sleep. The breakfast had many choices. Since we stayed during 国庆 holiday, there were quite a lot of guests, so we had to wait around 10–15 minutes when we went down late. But I think this was understandable because the hotel was quite busy. I really enjoyed having the chance to try some local food from Taiyuan, Shanxi, such as 老豆腐, 刀削面, and 担担面. There were also bread, fruit, coffee, salad, Western food, and many Chinese dishes. There was something for everyone. The staff were also very attentive and regularly helped clear the plates. Another thing I really liked was the location. We could walk directly from the hotel into Maoye Mall through the back entrance, which was very convenient. After checking out, we could also leave our luggage at the hotel. Ivy, kindly helped us with this, and I really appreciated her help. I was especially impressed by the Front Office staff, both when we checked in and when we checked out. They were the first people who welcomed us and the last people who said goodbye to us, and they made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. I was very happy to have the chance to give them a small gift(mini bread) as a thank you for taking such good care of us :) Overall, we had a really wonderful and relaxing stay here. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making us feel so comfortable and welcome. If I have the chance to visit Taiyuan again, I will definitely stay here again. ❤️"

There is no shortage of things to see in the area, with the Ancient Mosque (Jiefang Road), Yingze Park and Huanghe Theater all nearby. According to our guests, this hotel provides a very high level of service. This hotel is a popular accommodation for guests traveling with families.

"Hygiene: Better than expected! Even though it's an older five-star hotel, everything was spotlessly clean. Facilities: I personally prefer how these five-star hotels have everything you could possibly need. It's much better than modern, new hotels. They even provide separate shoe-shining cloths for sneakers and leather shoes, disposable face towels, bath mitts, irons, and umbrellas. Not only do they have soap, but also laundry detergent – so incredibly convenient! Service: Excellent! We received a complimentary fruit platter delivered to our room upon check-in. The breakfast/brunch buffet was very generous and, importantly, there was no queue. Location: Very close to the museum, city center, and other attractions. Taxis are incredibly easy to get."

"I chose Sheraton for my trip to Taiyuan to see Angela Chang's concert, as I saw they offered a concert shuttle service. And it turned out to be an excellent choice! UU from the hotel's concierge team was incredibly enthusiastic and responsible. The round-trip shuttle to Hongdenglong Sports Center was so convenient and made everything completely hassle-free. Highly recommended! The hotel accommodation itself was also fantastic in every aspect – clean, comfortable, and the breakfast was great too, especially the lamb offal soup. The hotel's noodle bar was surprisingly good as well. The housekeeping auntie was very thoughtful; seeing we had a baby, she brought us extra water and tissues, which was wonderful. Next time I go to Taiyuan for a concert, I'll definitely choose Sheraton again."

Hotel near Changfeng Business District,Taiyuan
InterContinental Taiyuan is located in the center of Changfeng Business District, the economic, political and cultural center of Taiyuan. Taiyuan Wusu International Airport, Taiyuan South Express Railway Station, Taiyuan Ancient county town and Jinyang Lake Park. Where surrounded by Jinyang Lake International Exhibition Center, Red Lanterns Stadium, Science and Technology Museum, Museum of Fine Arts. It is also on the opposite of the largest MIXC of North China. There are 330 guest rooms, HSIA and French window with whole Fenhe River view will bring you a relax and comfortable stay here.

"As an IHG member, when I visited Taiyuan for the first time, I didn't hesitate to choose the InterContinental. My experience, however, was a mixed bag. On the positive side, the room facilities were well-maintained. The Bronze Museum was just across the street from the hotel, and the riverside environment was also pleasant. For improvement, I arrived at the front desk around 12 PM, and was told that only one of my two rooms was ready, and the other was still being cleaned. I accepted this and went for lunch. An hour later, the second room still wasn't ready. Fortunately, a helpful guy at the front desk managed to sort it out, which was a great effort. What I want to say is that other five-star hotels in the industry usually have a guest services center or someone who contacts you beforehand to ask about your estimated arrival time and any special requests. While not a must-have, it's a bonus if they do, and a drawback if they don't when others do. Ironically, less than two hours after checking out, I received a call asking if I had any complaints. At that point, what more could I say?"

Whether guests need to complete a business trip efficiently or enjoy a ceremonial urban vacation, the hotel delivers a complete, worry-free, and polished experience, making it one of Taiyuan’s representative high-end comprehensive hotels. 6. Distinctive dining: tasting Shanxi through local flavors The hotel’s dining highlights Shanxi cuisine, with distinctive regional flavors that honor traditional Jin culinary heritage while adapting to modern dining preferences. Whether for business banquets, family meals, or a proper meal during a trip, it offers dining options that combine quality with local character. Local diners can rediscover familiar flavors, while visitors from other places can experience Shanxi’s food culture for the first time. For travelers who value culinary experiences, the hotel’s dining is more than a supporting service—it is a highlight worth planning around, allowing guests to appreciate the rich traditions of Shanxi cuisine through every dish. Who it suits Shanxi Hotel is suitable for business travel, urban getaways, cultural check-ins, family trips, meeting reception, wedding banquets and gatherings, as well as first-time visitors to Taiyuan. If you are looking for a hotel in Taiyuan with history, views, local flavor, and a sense of ceremony, Shanxi Hotel is a highly representative choice.

"Before booking, I saw many negative reviews about the hotel's outdated facilities and the courtyard parking. I debated whether to book, but curiosity eventually got the better of me as I wanted to experience this trendy Shanxi hotel. I stayed in the 'Jin Xian Lou' (Pure Yang Ya Ju) to the left of the main entrance, and the experience was awful. **Pros**: The service staff were all excellent, from the front desk during check-in to the breakfast servers and housekeeping. The room also had high ceilings, which I guess is a plus. The breakfast was alright. **Cons**: The elevator in the Jin Xian Lou had no ventilation; it was stifling hot as soon as you stepped in. The hallway outside the elevator had an indescribable musty smell. Upon entering the room, there was also an unpleasant odor, so I immediately opened the windows for ventilation. I could tolerate the room being old, and the cleanliness of a 45-square-meter room was just okay. However, I was shocked when I got to the bathroom. The plating on the shower faucet was peeling off, the shower door seal was yellowed and stiff, making it impossible to close the door. I didn't dare turn the shower water up too high. Also, the toilet seemed smaller than standard size, with an aftermarket smart lid that was positioned very oddly; a larger person probably wouldn't even fit. **Complaints**: For such a seemingly magnificent hotel, I found four hangers insufficient. I asked housekeeping for more wooden hangers, but they said they didn't have any wooden ones. They eventually brought back an assortment of plastic, wire, and other materials. Of course, housekeeping tried their best, but it's laughable that such a high-end hotel would use these hangers. Doesn't it cost much to buy some wooden hangers? The room I stayed in faced the courtyard (which was more like a public parking lot). The electronic sounds of license plates being called out from outside the window started from 6:30 AM and didn't quiet down until after 11:00 PM, along with car horns and other noises in between. The hotel hosts many groups and conferences, which makes it very noisy. It's not suitable for individual travelers who prefer a quiet stay. I will not choose to stay here again if I return to Taiyuan. It's all show and no substance, not worth it 👎"

"Saw great reviews for this hotel online, and it definitely lived up to our expectations after checking in. The room was incredibly spacious and spotless. The front desk even thoughtfully prepared small drinks, cooling patches, and alcohol wipes. What really stood out was the thoughtful shuttle service to and from the venue, specially arranged for fans who traveled from out of town for the concert over these three days – absolutely amazing! I heard this was their first time trying it, but it was truly fantastic. All in all, we were very satisfied and hope to stay here again when a favorite celebrity comes to Taiyuan for another concert. 🫰"

"Traveling to Taiyuan, I booked the City View Hotel based on recommendations from others. As soon as we entered the room, it felt really comfortable. My son immediately said he loved it. The room was spacious and the layout was pleasing. The desk was quite large, perfect for my son to do his homework and attend online classes. The bedside table had a recessed surface, so things wouldn't easily fall off. Besides USB charging ports, there were also iPhone plugs. Under the TV, there was a long shelf for placing items. The toilet and bathroom were separate, independent rooms. There were two sinks and a large counter space. Upon entering, there was a large area where you could sit and place belongings. The Line 2 subway station is not far downstairs. It's a 15-minute drive from the airport. Getting to Zhonglou Street, Jinci Temple, and the Shanxi Museum all take about 20-some minutes. The only downsides are that the hotel is located near an elevated highway, so the soundproofing isn't great. You can hear cars passing by, which slightly bothered me as I'm a light sleeper. It seems to be in a newer district, so there aren't many places to explore nearby, requiring a bit more travel. This was my first time staying at a City View Hotel, and overall, I was satisfied."
