Property Description
This luxurious 5 star resort looks out towards calm cerulean waters. The island is long and thin - about 350 metres long - with sand snaking out into a perfect spit that disappears with the evening tide.
The natural landscape has not been interfered with and the island features palms; wild sea grapes and hibiscus. The house reef which encircles Cocoa Island by COMO delineates a gin-clear lagoon that is rich with sealife; including ray and baby sharks. It is a sea without currents making Cocoa Island an ideal choice for families.
The resort aesthetic is by Singaporean architect Cheong Yew Kuan. The style of Cocoa is deliberately restrained; a simple yet sophisticated mix of the contemporary and indigenous.
Each of these 33 rooms - sit offshore on the southern side of Cocoa; overhanging the lagoon. They are reached by planked walkways. Structures combine New Zealand pine with Kajan thatched roofs. Natural materials are carried through to the interiors with high raftered ceilings and glossy teak flooring.
The inside/outside space merges on the horizon-side with floor-to-ceiling glass windows opening up to a substantial deck for slipping in and out of the water. These same decks provide privacy for lounging in the sun or a place for quiet al fresco dining.
The islands serenity is reflected in the clean-lined and airy interiors combining whites and blues - more Hamptons beach hut than the usual rough-rustic aesthetic favoured by other Maldivian hotels.
The restaurant is called Ufaa meaning happy in Maldivian. The Cheong-designed foot-in-the-sand space - seating 60 both covered and uncovered - flanks the resorts infinity-edged pool in natural wood and Kajan thatch. Ufaa serves breakfast lunch and dinner.
This peaceful location is also host to a COMO Shambhala Retreat designed for guests seeking greater health through Yoga and related treatments.

A very large menu, a large selection of dishes, good and healthy breakfasts, very pleasant service, everyone is always smiling, but in general: being in this hotel, you feel in complete privacy, I do not recommend it with children, the best place for a honeymoon, stunning underwater world at your feet. Excellent design of houses, everything is very thought out for guests!

Very beautiful! This island is relatively small, with few people and quiet environment. The service staff are very nice, the food is also very exquisite, there are snacks and fruits in the room, and there is enough drinking water. You can go swimming and snorkeling directly in the sea from the terrace behind the room, or you can pay extra to take a yacht to go snorkeling, which is nice~

We stayed at Como Cocoa as part of a Music In Paradise event in June, and this resort really is paradise on earth. It is total laidback barefoot luxury. All the villas sit over a lovely blue lagoon, giving direct access to the most exceptional house reef. We saw an abundance of marine life right from the steps of our villa. Abdulla Wisam and the staff really make this place. We were met by name whenever we encountered them. They are so friendly and engaging and clearly enjoy working at the resort. The food was delicious and the chef is incredibly accommodating, such as allowing a lunch dish to be served for dinner if preferred. He even made up a special dinner for our group as a treat on the last night. The breakfast menu was outstanding. The Dosa and French toast were highlights and little things like ensuring the buffet food was kept covered to prevent flies, put a smile on my face every day. The gym has air con with plenty of equipment. The Hydro pool is a real treat and everyone we spoke to, including us, raved about the spa and massages. Also, the dive centre staff were very knowledgeable and clearly take the safety of guests seriously. Como Cocoa is a real gem and we can’t wait to return next year. I suspect Como Cocoa will be on our repeat list for years to come. Thanks Como Cocoa. See you next year!

From pickup at Velana Airport to farewell, everything was absolutey perfect. We would like to thank every single staff member for their warmth, kindness, highly professional service, helpfulness. We really felt at home "away from home",on this small paradise island. It was a beautiful experience under all points of view. We'll definitely come back.

Cocoa Island offers individuality, privacy, unspoiled nature combined with luxury, very personal and extremely friendly service, beautiful over-water villas and excellent food. Only thirty-three villas guarantee that you will have the island almost to yourself. There may be more prestigious, opulent and expensive resorts, but you'd struggle to find a place that better epitomizes the original luxury of the Maldives: Vast white beaches mostly all to yourself, vast and wide crystal clear lagoons deep enough to swim in and, as they say, one of the most beautiful reefs. An unforgettably beautiful place!

Our first time to Maldives, to a private island, to a room which offers direct access to the house reef. Como Cocoa Island did not disappoint. The only negative I would say is the loft water villa does not have a horizon view (there is an island with some building in construction opposite although it is quite far away). Besides that, everything was really nice. From getting all my queries answered, booking, arrival and speedboat transfer, check in, all the activities, meals, check out. Room was clean, well maintained and we wake up every day looking out and wondering what fish, turtle or black tip reef shark we will see. Sunrise is beautiful when viewed at the sandbank. We took the half board and the meals are delicious and of generous portion - we are very well fed and taken care of! We enjoyed the top-up activities: Yakiniku dinner, sandbank picnic lunch (a bit hot but it was a fun experience) and candlelight dinner. The sunset fishing and cruise were very nice as well but our highlight was the nurse shark snorkelling - we saw nurse sharks, sea turtles, dolphins and many fishes on our trip and the water is just amazing. Overall it has been such a wonderful holiday in Maldives and we are glad we chose to spend it at Como - we could not ask more.

Stayed here for a week in February. What a fabulous place. Understated luxury, super food and friendly staff. The accommodation is overwater and we really enjoyed sitting on our deck watching the marine life swim by. Went to the hydrotherapy pool daily and had some fabulous treatments in the Spa with Tari. Honestly one of the best massage therapists I have ever had! Cant recommend it highly enough - it was a delight just to destress completely and not even worry about dressing for dinner - flip flops or no shoes are the norm and a beach dress - perfect! An exceptional team of staff most who have been there around 10-15 years lead by the lovely Arta - first class! We will be back!

Second time back to Como Cocoa Island and our stay was wonderful again! The management and staff are top notch and made us feel welcome and comfortable. Our loft villa was perfectly laid out. We especially liked having another bathroom on the second level with its large porthole window…perfect for late night weather checks and star gazing. The snorkeling was just as beautiful as last visit. The guides and boat staff on the snorkel safari excursion were knowledgeable and made us feel safe and relaxed. The food selection was great with a wide variety of healthy and delicious choices. Even our finicky eater was happy…the restaurant staff noted his preferences and accommodated happily. Several appointments at the Shambhala Spa were truly wonderful. The massage therapists and staff are professional and provided a much needed “adjustment” in a serene and relaxing setting. The beach areas are well maintained and beautiful. Walking out on the amazing Cocoa sand bar in the evening or at sunrise is an experience not to be missed or forgotten. Just a short boat ride from Male, Como Cocoa Island is a gem! Hopefully a third visit to Cocoa is in our future!
