The Green Elephant Hostel & Spa

Solid accommodation. We shared one double pod and while the bed was very spacious for two people, they unfortunately only provided one massive blanket for us. It was more than big enough, but depending on how comfortable you are with your travel buddy it might be something to consider. There were plenty of bath- and washrooms and the cleanliness was decent. The welcome smoothie as well as the free water and fruit were a nice bonus. There's also a free spa area for guests and any necessities such as towels, slippers or bathrobes are available for rent at the reception. However, we did not use the spa during our stay. All in all, we a had a good stay and would happily recommend The Green Elephant to other travellers looking for an affordable, but comfortable stay in Maastricht.

I love everything about this hostel. However sometimes the pople inside the room might be a bit loud as they were having like little party inside while also eating which could stink the whole room. So, I think it might be good if the hostel could implement rules in the room (loudness, bringing food inside) which could ensure the harmony among the roommates. 

This is one of the nicer Backpackers I’ve stayed in. It has only one bunk in each pod so you’re really separate from everybody else. The location is three hours from Amsterdam although it is very very close to the train station I loved the free fruit and the outside areas. There was two nice garden areas. The only thing I didn’t appreciate or enjoy was I booked in so late at night and it just happened to be handover and the lady could not help me as she was busy counting her hotel and finishing her day so therefore I did not get my free welcome drink. I thought it was just the water on the bar when I asked if there was any food she said no and did not offer me any fruit which of course I realised it’s free so there was food. Another couple were trying to book in at the same time as me so I gave them the computer. I really wish that the woman behind the bar could have told me there was a second computer. I guess she was just having a bad day. I also had had a bad day although it’s not a competition, I had caught the wrong train from Amsterdam and had an hour and a half detour. All my own fault but I was absolutely shattered. I could not think straight when I got there and needed a little help to check In. Highly recommend doing the caves and fort at Saint Petersburg.
