"Great Location. Very nice for snorkeling. Casa Isabella room was very nice. The resort tries to be a luxury botique resort. However from a luxury botique resort, it was a let down in following ways: 1) While the room was really nice, the bathroom was smelling and the flush was not working half the time. 2) The resort claims full board. However when ordering appetizers etc they want to charge separate. While paying for it is not a problem, it felt unpleasant for the staff to keep reminding us on what will be charged and keep a count on the meal. 3) Traveling internationally, we forgot to get local currency. While they loaned some currency for local park fees, they refused give currency to tip the boating staff. Again not a pleasant experience. 4) Being first time in Philipines, the crowded airport and crazy crowd and traffic right outside the arrival gate was overwhelming. The driver left us waiting for 20mins amidst this while he went somewhere far to pick his car. The resort has great potential but seems it stuck half way in creating a nice pleasant experience for international guests or anyone seeking smooth pleasant luxury stay."

Aiyanar Beach and Dive Resort ★★★★
"We booked Aiyanar resort as they were the most responsive in email correspondence. Joyce, the manager, responded to all our emails right away and clarified and arranged everything perfectly before the trip. Arrangement for transportation was very easy. It takes 2~2.5 hours depending on the traffic from the airport to the resort, and they make sure you arrive back at the airport in plenty of time, since check in and immigration can take over an hour. The rooms are equipped with all kinds of amenities (hair dryer, kettle, reading lamps, safe, etc.) and are very comfortable both for working and relaxing in. The bathroom was very spacious and clean, with good hot water that does not run out -- which is important when coming back from dives. There is also a very nice desk to work on computer, and it is amply equipped with electrical outlets on both ends (flat 2 pin style, as is often used in the Philippines; the camera room has many universal outlets that you can also use). Joyce always asks all the guests whether they need anything. All the staff was a great team. The resort is big and very quiet, with no noise or loud music coming in from elsewhere, as it does at many Anilao resorts. It is also fun to watch their resident giant tortoise, Birdie! The dining here is excellent! Great quality food and amazing variety of dishes, all excellent! The restaurant staff were all super friendly and accommodating, and especially Randy, who oversees it, is so professional! The style of serving (buffet, family style shared plate, individual plate) changes depending on the number of the guests. But even for a small occupancy of 1 or 2 people, the variety was never less, and the portions were always more than generous, and come with a soup and salad, 3-4 main dishes, and a homemade dessert at both lunch and dinner. Vanessa's homemade ice creams were delicious! This is easily one of the best kitchens in any dive resorts we have stayed, and by far the best in the Philippines! And most important to us (and to many): The diving experience was FANTASTIC, as our dive master Dadz is so kind, fun, competent and professional with great eyes for spotting macro life. The boatmen were also kind and helpful, and the dive instructor Joe fixed my dive watch! The temperature was rather cool (water temperature 25~26 celcius), but the boatmen gave us hot towels and coffee when we came up for our surface intervals. They also offer black water photography, which we did not try, but can assume was done as carefully and professionally as everything else there. They have also open-water licence class, and we will recommend all our friends who are interested in getting a diving license to go to Aiyanar, as it has nice classroom, kind instructor, and deep pool. If you want to just relax, they have a beautiful infinity pool and can also arrange massage service. The masseuses all seem to be professionally trained. (One tip: Nearest ATM is far, so bring enough cash to tip the masseuses,"

Food is good and affordable given the portion where most are good for sharing. My only concern is the convenience of connecting with the front desk since communication is done via cellphone and signal in the area is weak."

"People are friendly, quiet, and you will feel that you are in the province. Very thankful for the guy who cooked for me and my friend so we could have dinner even though they are already closed. There are lots of places there to chill. Also, the number in the app or in the receipt is not updated, you might try to call it but someone would tell you that you dialed the wrong number. "It is incredibly difficult to write a good review, as we stayed at this hotel during a typhoon. Because of this, we spent three days stuck in our hotel room instead of enjoying the resort. Upon arrival, everyone was super nice and the rooms were amazing. Spacious, clean, and super modern. We were looking forward to the upcoming three days! The menu is incredibly extensive, although they didn't have everything in stock because we were there during the low season. They were very helpful and prepared the most delicious meals. This is a bit priceier, but well worth it! On the ****te day, it rained so hard and so much that we really couldn't do anything. Quite a challenge with two small children. The (Belgian) owner indicated that we could use the Ocean View Suite to use as a living room and to be together. Our food was also brought there, as we couldn't use the restaurant due to the rain and wind. We were supposed to check out the next day, but due to a landslide, we couldn't leave. The owner and his staff were also stranded themselves, and fortunately we were the only guests at the time, so we were able to stay an extra night. Solutions were devised to allow us to get away after the typhoon, which was very nice. Unfortunately, we were also unable to use electricity on the last evening (the last in the village), but everything was discussed and arranged. The next day the weather was gloriously sunny, and we saw the beautiful resort again (with some broken branches and stones by the sea). It really was a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy swimming and sunbathing. Unfortunately not for us, but that is why we would definitely say: we will be back again! A very neat, clean, spacious hotel with incredibly sweet and helpful staff!"

"Accommodation & dining was mediocre. However, the diving was AMAZING; facilities and quality of the diving equipment are seriously good and well maintained. The dive master was exceptional and the dive shop offered great service including all the boat crew. Would have given a 6 star rating for the diving only. Beware when booking via trip.com, there were massive issues and the reservation was recorded in the resort's system until I followed up with trip.com - quite a hassle."
